Bed and Breakfast Description

The Lynwood Guest house, a Victorian built retreat for weary travellers and holidaymakers. The house still retains its Victorian feel but with a sensible portion of modern conveniences for the comfort and pleasure of those who need to relax in a home from home.

The Lynwood is a clean and comfortable family run guesthouse with seven letting bedrooms. Over the many years of service, we have gained an enviable reputation for cleanliness, cheerful and willing service and good food. We have white bath sheets, hand towels and flannels, white bed linen and white cosy dressing gowns and slippers for those rooms not providing en-suite facilities. Each room supplies a television, clock radio, hairdryer, welcome toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities.

On our breakfast dresser we have available fruit juices, freshly prepared fruit (i.e. cut melon, blueberries, raspberries), yoghurts and cereals. In addition you can also choose from a freshly cooked full ‘English Breakfast’ (bacon, egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausage, hash browns and baked beans) or, you may prefer a vegetarian option or continental choice of croissants, jams, marmalade or honey. All our breakfasts are served with tea or fresh coffee and toast. We of course can also provide for special dietary requirements with a little notice.

Penzance Attractions

Many visitors are attracted to the little villages like Mousehole and Porthleven or, Lands End an area of outstanding natural beauty, and also the Serpentine rocks of the Lizard Peninsular with the offer of locally made gifts to purchase for home.

Others prefer the Minack open air theatre, or the Tate Gallery at St Ives. Amongst the many beaches in the Bay, Porthcurno and Sennen beckon the sun seekers and surfers, whilst teashops and restaurants abound everywhere for all individual palates and tastes.

Penzance market town is just five minutes from The Lynwood. Just a few minutes more is the rail and Bus terminus, but for those likely to visit the Scilly Isles there is the Scillonian Ferry at Penzance Harbour (ten minutes) or of course for guests who wish to enjoy the thrill of a helicopter ride there is the heliport and Sky Bus flying over the Cornish coast to the summer Isles.

St Michaels Mount: Set just offshore of the ancient town of Marazion. Come and walk the causeway at low tide and visit the castle, shops and tearooms.

Penlee House Museum and Gallery (Morrab Road): Founded in 1839 it features a programme of changing exhibitions of historic West Cornwall including works of the now famous Newlyn School such as Langley, Forbes and Garstin.

Mousehole: Dylan Thomas once called Mousehole (Mowzel) ‘one of the prettiest villages in England’. It was once home to the Penlee Lifeboat where so tragically all hands were lost in a storm in 1981. Dolly Pentreath also lived here, the last native speaker of the Cornish language. She died in 1777. Visit Mousehole during Sea Salt and Sails week, even travel down at Christmas to see the Christmas lights, or stroll down early one Sunday summer evening into the village to hear the Mousehole Male Choir sing at the Harbour side.

B&B Location

Follow the A30 into Penzance. Keep to the left at the traffic lights near the station. Continue on this road following the signs to Newlyn around the Harbour keeping the Atlantic Ocean on your left. Keep on past the Jubilee swimming pool; see the Lugger restaurant and public house on your right. Travel further along the sea front and promenade, now look for The Queens Hotel on your right and indicate right for Morrab Road before you reach the Hotel. Nearly there now. Travel a little over 200m along Morrab Road and look for The Lynwood on your left.
