Bed and Breakfast Description

Welcome to The Boat House Bed & Breakfast. We believe that staying away from home should be a relaxing and stress free experience full of simple pleasures. Tucking into a full cooked breakfast, reading the papers in bed or enjoying a freshly baked cake with coffee in the afternoon are all part of the fun, and we take great pleasure in providing those extra touches.
Whether planning a quick business stopover, long lazy weekend or jam packed activity holiday, our delicious home-cooked meals and top quality accommodation set you up for a carefree and memorable stay.
Spacious, stylish and comfortable our rooms are individually designed and feature contemporary artwork and furnishings. Each room has a large en-suite with walk in shower, fluffy white towels and wonderful Au Lait toiletries.

Our complimentary refreshments include cafetiere and fresh ground coffee, a selection of teas, home-made biscuits and mineral water.

We provide a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, TV and DVD player in each room, plus access to wireless broadband.

Laugharne is almost on the border of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire so we have the delicious produce from both counties to choose from, plus the butcher crowned best in Wales for three years running in the next town! Conducting taste tests on your behalf was a tough job, but after some serious sampling (especially the sausages…) we are confident that we serve some of the finest ingredients available in South West Wales.

Cooking is definitely the fun part of running this business, so all of our meals are freshly made. We bake everything except the bread, which we will leave to the experts at Laugharne Bakery until we can master their perfection!

We like to think that our breakfast will set you up for the day but when you feel peckish our cafe 'The Green Room' is just round the corner serving home made cakes, sandwiches, pizzas and platters until 10pm

Local Attractions

Location matters and with its fascinating history and stunning scenery, the ancient township of Laugharne offers plenty of ways to escape and unwind. You could take a stroll around the Tâf estuary to Dylan Thomas’ Boat House, climb the castle and soak up the view, or join the locals for a drink and a tale or two in one of three pubs on our doorstep.

Laugharne Castle:-
Dating back to the 12th century, Laugharne was destroyed by Cromwell’s Roundheads during the Civil War. Worth a visit for the views alone.

Open 10am -5pm, April to September.

The Boat House:-
Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea but made Laugharne his home, writing many of his major works here including Under Milk Wood. Both his writing shed and tiny former home, the Boathouse have been preserved with original furnishings and memorabilia.

Open 10am-5pm in summer and 10am -3pm in winter.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales (30 mins):-
A brilliant millennium project, the Botanic Garden continues to inspire visitors with it’s variety of horticulture and the stunning architecture of The Great Glasshouse

Open March to October, 10am – 6pm, and 10am to 4:30pm in winter.

Skomer Island (1 hour):-
Well, 1 hour is slightly misleading as that will get you to Marloes Peninsula where you then catch the boat to Skomer Island. It is a national nature reserve and birdwatchers paradise where you may also spot dolphins and grey seals. A magical place.

St Davids (55 mins):-
The smallest city the UK, St David’s is in reality a charming village, with a wonderful cathedral , surrounded by some of the best beaches on the Pembrokeshire coastline.

Pendine (5 mins):-
Our local beach, famous for hosting the land speed records on its 7 mile stretch of sand.

Tenby (30 mins):-
A beautiful harbour town and popular holiday resort due to its four beaches, and busy nightlife.

B&B Location

Take the A40 from Carmarthen towards St. Clears, Fishguard. After ten miles take the sliproad for the A4066, signposted St. Clears, Laugharne, Pendine. At the T-junction turn right towards Laugharne and travel for four miles. We are situated opposite the castle car park in the centre of the township.
