Bed and Breakfast Description

Our accommodation is three diamond rated by the tourist board, is on the ground floor, and consists of one twin and one double room with a private bathroom shared by the two rooms. Children are most welcome. Cot and sleeping bags available when sharing with parent.

TV and tea/coffee making facilities in each room. We serve an excellent breakfast and can provide packed lunches if required. Ample off road parking space. Dogs and horses accommodated by arrangement.

We offer you a warm and friendly welcome to our home.

Local Attractions
Tackley is a friendly picturesque village situated halfway between Oxford and Banbury, just off the A4260 (M40 junctions 9 [south] or 11 [north]), an ideal centre for touring, walking, riding or an overnight business stay.

There is a mainline railway station with trains to Oxford, London, Banbury, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Birmingham, a minute's walk from our door. The local bus runs regularly to both Oxford and Banbury and the bus stop is five minutes' walk. There is a regular service to London every 20 minutes from Oxford.

The Gardiner Arms is the village pub and serves excellent food. Woodstock is nearby and is an absolute Mecca of pubs and restaurants.

Tackley Village Shop – a not-for-profit community shop, staffed by volunteers – is five minutes' walk away and sells a great range of locally-sourced products in addition to all the essentials you'd expect.

Walking & cycling
A maze of footpaths surrounds the village with views of the scenic Cherwell Valley including the Oxfordshire Way and Oxford Canal. We have our own Nature Reserve and Heath. Arrangements can be made for walkers' luggage to be ferried to the next overnight stop. Dogs welcome by prior arrangement.

Cycling
We are en-route for the Oxfordshire Cycle Way, and approximately one and a half miles from Sustrans route 5. A Sustrans link route runs past the door.

Off-road: A maze of bridleways and tracks, canal towpath from Oxford to Banbury. We offer secure bicycle storage.
 

B&B Location
from Birmingham
At M40 Junction 11 (Banbury) take the A4260 towards Oxford through the villages of Adderbury and Deddington past Hopcrofts Holt Hotel/garage, and after approximately 2 miles take second left for Tackley.

from London
Take M40 Junction 9 (Bicester), A34 towards Oxford, turn off onto B4027 to Bletchington. Stay on this road until you come to a T-junction, A4260 turn right. After half a mile, at Sturdy's Castle pub turn right to Tackley.

from Oxford
Take the A4260 to Sturdy's Castle, and turn right to Tackley

from the South
From the A34 Oxford Services, take the A44 towards Woodstock. Turn right onto the B4027, then left onto the A4260. Take the A4260 to Sturdy's Castle, and turn right to Tackle.

When you get to Tackley
At the bottom of Church Hill, pass the village green and continue along Medcroft Road, passing the Gardiner Arms on your right. Turn right at the telephone box. This is Nethercote Road, and we (number 55) are on your left, the house with the B&B sign and five bar gate.
