Bed and Breakfast Description

Children, dogs and horses are all welcome at Lovaton Farm.

The comfortable and spacious farmhouse accommodation comprises one double room with en-suite and a family room with private bathroom. The tastefully decorated rooms are warm and quiet, with tea and coffee making facilities and colour TVs.

Guests have their own sitting room/dining room with VHS video and DVD player, plus a selection of Tapes and DVDs to borrow. Wireless broadband is available throughout the farmhouse for those who need to keep contact with work or friends.

There is a fridge on the guest landing and on request a microwave is available for use. A substantial breakfast is provided using home produced sausages and bacon with local produce whenever possible. We can also supply packed lunches on request.

There is a large garden with seating and decking which guests are free to wander and spend time enjoying. The garden has a large lawn for children to run off their excess energy as well as a tree-house and sandpit. A BBQ is available on request!



Local Attractions

Locally there are numerous rural villages, renowned for their cosy thatched Devon pubs offering excellent and varied food, real ales and a relaxing atmosphere. Many excellent local walks and cycle routes along with activities including horse riding, fishing and golf are all close by. Devon is relaxing for adults and fun for children!!

Devon also offers a wide range of varied activities ranging from National Trust properties and ancient castles to cliff walks and woodland rambles. These include the “Tarka Trail”, the “Two Moors Way” and “Lydford Gorge”. Also enjoy a day out at a nearby pony centre or country park or simply enjoy a picnic on the farm.

The most popular destination for visitors to the area is Dartmoor with it’s rugged tors and its beauty, myths and legends. Visit the many tors, steep wooded valleys, ancient forests and rolling terrain like Wistmans Wood, Two Bridges, Bellever Forest, Hay Tor and Fingle Bridge. We have guide books on some of the best walks and laminated maps which our guests can borrow.
 

B&B Location

The Whiddon Down exit of the A30 is 20 miles west of Exeter and the end of the M5 and 15 miles east of Launceston, Cornwall.

From whichever way you approach turn off the A30 at the Whiddon Down/Services Exit, signposted Whiddon Down, Chagford, North Tawton, etc.

Drive about 500 yards into the village of Whiddon Down then take the first right signposted Winkleigh (A3124) which is opposite the Post Inn pub.

Drive for about one mile and cross back over the dual carriageway.

Take the first left turn up a lane signposted "North Wyke Research". After 3/4 of a mile Lovaton Farm is on the right with a stone walled entrance.
