Bed and Breakfast Description

You will be impressed with Knole when you first approach this imposing Victorian farmhouse up the curving avenue of old Beech trees. The extensive, 1.5 acre grounds with their beautiful mature trees.shrubs and flowers are such a pleasure to see.

Here you can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet, walk through the grounds, stroll through the fields looking for the numerous and varied wildlife, or have a tour of the farm on a quad bike (all where safety permits).

The farmhouse was built with stone quarried on the site and has well-proportioned rooms. The ensuite bedrooms each have a fridge, fresh milk, TV and hostess tray. There is a separate dining room, where evening meals can be served by prior arrangement. You are welcome to bring your own wine.

On chilly nights you can feel cosy in the lounge with its log fires. You can enjoy a quiet evening with a glass of wine and a book spent in the spacious conservatory overlooking the tors of Dartmoor. The views are fantastic!

What do you like for breakfast? Something light? Or the full Monty to keep you going all day? Whatever you want, (within reason!!!) Mavis will provide! It will be delicious, home-cooked farmhouse fare. What a lovely way to start the day.

Do you have special dietary needs? No problem! Just let me know when booking.

If you prefer to eat out, there are several nearby pubs well-known for their fine cuisine to suit all tastes and budgets.

Local Attractions

Dartmoor - what can we say that has not been written already - Spectacular walks, glorious Tors to climb, the farm is only 1 mile walking distance to the open moorland.

Most enjoyable ways to see the moors in the saddle away from the hustle and bustle from city life.

Okehampton a local market town (7 miles) and the northern gateway to Dartmoor offers a golf course. The town is overlooked by the Castle dating back to 1195, mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Well worth a visit, particularly in the springtime when the bluebells are in abundance.

From Okehampton board the Meldon Steam Train, which leads directly onto the moor and you can use this as a way to visit the Meldon Reservoir, the source of the farm's water, or take the opportunity to use the newly created cycle paths.

B&B Location

For our vistors from North of Exeter , leave the A30 dual carriageway at Sourton Cross and join the A386 to Tavistock ,about 3 miles further , turn right at the fox and hounds pub onto the B3278 - signposted Bridstowe , over the hump - backed bridge passing through the beautiful group of matured beech trees lining your route.

Continue until you find a signpost marked ( Coryton ) and turn left. Knole farm is about 80 yards along on the right. The entrance is signposted.
