The Elm Guest house really is the best place to stay for all visitors to Stamford, whether on business or leisure. The house overlooks the town’s pretty park where there is a delightful bandstand, lawn tennis, bowls and small playground area. A short walk through the park, into the town centre where there is a wide range of shops, traditional butchers and bakers, top fashion boutiques, local crafts and art, hostelries and attractions. Stamford has something to charm everyone.

Stamford has events all year round including festivals, open air concerts at stately homes, and music in quiet places- a series of concerts in rural venues. Stamford Shakespeare Company performs from June to August at Tolethorpe Hall, near Stamford.
Stamford Museum, Broad Street, features the clothes of Tom Thumb, Daniel Lambert, lived.
Burghley House, just down the road, you can walk it, a William Cecil mansion, state rooms, frescoes, gardens and grounds, famous for hosting the Burghley Horse Trials, sculpture gardens,the new garden of surprises.
Fine traditional butchers and bakers, a street market held on Fridays and Saturdays and once a fortnight there is a farmers market. The Arts Centre with its cellar bar has a full film calendar and theatre events throughout the year. Many places of interest to visit such as Stamford Museum, the Steam Brewery and Browne’s Hospital. Cosy pubs serving locally brewed ale and a fine selection of restaurants to dine.
Beyond Stamford you can enjoy the beautiful countryside and attractions of the Lincolnshire Vales. Visit the ancient market towns of Oakham and Bourne, and the unspoilt surrounding villages and hamlets. For idyllic walking, picnicking and wildlife, visit Rutland Water Nature Reserve on one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe. You can also enjoy a variety of watersports and fishing on the reservoir, as well as 25 miles of walk and cycle paths which run close to the water's edge and through woodland. Climbing and abseiling are available through The Rock Blok, while you can enjoy a good round of golf at Rutland County, Burghley Park and Greetham Valley golf clubs.

Travelling South on the A1
Take the first Stamford exit to Great Casterton and Stamford. Follow the road straight over the first set of lights. At the second set of lights turn left onto North St. After the pedestrian lights turn left into Recreation Ground Rd. At the cross roads turn left into New Cross Rd. The Elm is 150m on the right hand side.
Travelling North on the A1
Take the first Stamford turn i.e at the roundabout. Follow the road into Stamford. Go straight over the lights ( George Hotel on left) and take the first right onto Warf Rd. After the ‘S’ bend turn left into Brazenose Lane. At the lights go straight over, under the foot bridge and take the first right into Conduit Rd. At the top of the hill turn left into New Cross Rd. The Elm is 250m on the right.
Travelling from the East A16
Follow the road into Stamford. At the lights turn right onto North Street under the foot bridge and take the first right into Conduit Rd. At the top of the hill turn left into New Cross Rd. The Elm is 250m on the right.
Travelling from the West A606
Follow the road into Stamford. At the ‘T’ junction turn right, 200m lights turn left onto North St. After the pedestrian lights turn left into Recreation Ground Rd. At the cross roads turn left into New Cross Rd. The Elm is 150m on the right hand side.
