Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Elmsdale is a Victorian townhouse in a tree lined avenue running from the Penzance sea front. The property is within the Penzance conservation area and has been carefully refurbished to provide airy, immaculate, non-chintzy accommodation. There are three guest bedrooms, all en-suite. Fixed and wireless broadband is available in all room.

The town centre and sea front are about 600 metres away. There is a wide range of pubs, restaurants, art galleries and interesting shops within easy walking distance. Penzance is the communications hub for the Penwith Peninsula as well as the mainland base for ferry and helcopter links to the Scilly Isles. Parking is on-street but generally plentiful.

Penzance Attractions

 
In Penzance:
Penzance sea front (600 yds)with paths to Newlyn and Marazion. The sea is safe for swimming.
Penlee House Museum & Gallery (400 yds) for Newlyn School pictures and exhibitions.
The Acorn Theatre (centre for performing arts) (600 yds).
The Exchange Art Gallery (700 yds).

In the local area:
St. Michael's Mount (National Trust).
Mousehole – pretty harbour village 3 miles away. Park outside the village (very narrow streets).
Minack Theatre (11 miles)– an open air theatre operating in the summer season only, book in advance.
Geevor Tin Mine - mine tours and museum, great sea views from the cafe.
South West Coastal Path - some stunning walks around the Penwith Peninsula.
St. Ives - lots of art galleries including the Tate. Excellent beaches and good restaurants.
Isles of Scilly day trips by helicopter from Penzance. A visit to Tresco especially recommended.
Museum of Submarine Telegraphy, Porthcurno - a secret wartime communications centre with interactive exhibits.
 

B&B Location
 
On approaching Penzance, at the roundabout just past the Heliport and adjacent to Tescos, take the second turn signed posted Lands End/A30 to avoid the town centre.
You will cross three more major roundabouts as you skirt around the edge of town. At the third roundabout (Mount Misery) turn left (signposted ‘Newlyn Art Gallery/Seafront’).
Continue 800 metres until you reach a mini-roundabout then turn right (sign posted ‘Seafront’) – you will have just entered Alexandra Road.
Proceed 100 metres and seek a place to park. Elmsdale is the 3rd house in a terrace of fine Victorian town houses on the left hand side of the street. You can park outside the property or in Hawkins Road (left turn) or Alexandra Gardens (right turn).

The AA Route Planner and Multimap correctly show the location of Elmsdale if you enter the post code TR18 4LZ but may direct you through the centre of the Town or along the seafront. If driving along the seafront then Alexandra Road is a right turn at the mini roundabout at the end of the seafront. The Beachfield Hotel is a landmark at the end of Alexandra Road.

If you find yourself in Newlyn then you have overshot.
