Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Set above a river in 67 acres of unspoilt woodland near to Kingsbridge, South Devon and close to several of the UK’s award winning beaches, this early Victorian country house has flexible accommodation ranging from the rustic to the more gracious. There are 14 bedrooms offering accommodation on a simple overnight B&B basis through to holidaying families to South Devon and couples wishing to marry in a rural, country house setting. House parties are becoming increasingly popular for those wishing to indulge in some quality time with loved ones in the relaxing style and comfort that a country house can provide.

Nearly all of the rooms on the first floor have en-suite facilities and stunning views over the valley.
Top floor rooms have shared bathrooms.
There are tea and coffee making facilites in every room as well as bottled water from our natural spring

The restaurant is open for lunches, dinner and homemade cream teas, serving local and organic ingredients wherever possible. See our website for a sample menu and special offers.

With miles upon miles of stunning coastline, clean beaches, peaceful countryside with wooded valleys and meandering rivers; secret spots are still waiting to be discovered.

Activity Centres from all over the coast to the hills of Dartmoor offer traditional countryside pursuits such as riding, kayaking, sailing, golf, fishing and even surfing.

From the North
The M5 bypasses Exeter and then becomes the A38 to Plymouth. The road splits twice just south of Exeter. Stay in the right lanes – A38 to Plymouth.

Pass a sign saying Plymouth 17 miles and take the next exit marked Ugborough and Ermington. Turn left off the slip road towards Loddiswell. At crossroads go straight across signposted Loddiswell.

Come to clearly marked “California Cross” with garage on left, pub on right. Turn left immediately after the garage signposted Loddiswell. After approx three quarters of a mile, on the brow of the hill, there is a small lane on the left signposted Hazelwood (brown tourist sign). Turn left along lane for three quarters of a mile. As it starts to go downhill you will see ahead large stone pillars clearly signed ‘Hazelwood’. This is the main entrance to Hazelwood on your right.

Drive through entrance and down steep hill past two cottages on your right. Keep going and the main house is straight ahead of you.

From the South
Take A38 towards Exeter, turn off at SOUTH BRENT, turn right at T-junction and immediately right again to rejoin A38 towards Plymouth. Turn off at next exit signed UGBOROUGH and follow as if coming from Exeter above.
