Bath All or some rooms have private bathrooms. Our BNB is a local building of historic interest. We accept payment in cash. Our establishment is child friendly Garden and/or patio area for guests
Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request. We're sorry, we do not accept pets. We have on-site parking. We have a residents lounge. There are scenic walks in the surrounding area. Smoking is not permitted in the establishment.

Bed and Breakfast Description

 

A warm welcome awaits you with easy access to the front door to unload your cases.

Tea and cake are normally served in the drawing room on your arrival or in the garden on sunny days. Come and hear the birds sing!


We have a twin bedroom with a pair of Edwardian 3'6 beds with very comfortable mattresses. There is a washbasin and the private bathroom is three steps down to a half landing. This room overlooks the woodlands of Killerton and the Culm Valley .


There is also a very large family room with a double bed and two 3' single beds. This room also has a washbasin and the bathroom is immediately opposite the bedroom door. This room is at the side of the house and looks over the garden with distant views towards Dartmoor . This room can also be used as a double or a twin room.

The drawing room is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas.The paintings of flowers on the doors are over 100 years old. There is a television and video for guests use and also a good selection of books to suit all tastes. Leaflets advertising local attractions are also here and there are maps to borrow.

 

Exeter Attractions

 
Hayne House is in an excellent area for touring and we are within an easy drive of both the south and north Devon coasts; with Exmouth being the closest. The Cathedral City of Exeter with shops, theatres and the impressive Quay area is easily reached.

Exmoor and Dartmoor are also easily reached with many beautiful villages to explore.

Lovely villages nearby include Thorverton and the pretty thatched village of Bickleigh where Simon and Garfunkel are reputed to have written 'Bridge over troubled water' while staying alongside the River Exe. Bickleigh Mill for shopping and restaurant, together with the Castle and the Trout Inn are also here.
Silverton with its pubs for meals and shops including an award winning butcher is 1 mile away.

There are local footpaths to walk with leaflets and maps to borrow. From Criss Cross (one of the highest points in Devon off the moors) there are fabulous views ranging from Wellington Monument, Blackdown Hills, Dartmoor and Exmoor down to the estuary at Exmouth.
 

B&B Location
 
Hayne House is situated about 7 miles north of Exeter, it is easily reached from either the A396 Exeter to Tiverton road (Exe Valley) or the B3181 which is accessed from the east.

From Exeter take the A377 towards Crediton; on the outskirts of Exeter at Cowley Bridge take the A396 to Tiverton. After passing through the villages of Stoke Canon and Rewe continue on the main road past a filling station and when you reach the Ruffwell Inn turn right immediately opposite the car park. In a short distance bear right to Bradninch and continue straight across the next two crossroads. Immediately after Poundsland Cross turn right signposted Hayne. We are half a mile down the lane on the left.

From the M5 Motorway . Leave at J27 and take the A361 Link Road towards Tiverton. Take the second exit signposted Bickleigh A396. Continue on this road and after passing through Bickleigh IGNORE TURNINGS TO SILVERTON Continue until the Ruffwell Inn and turn left. Follow the directions above.

From the West A30 take the A377 towards Exeter and follow directions above.

From the East (A30/A303) leave at Daisymount and take the road towards Rockbeare, continue until you see a brown tourist sign to Killerton. Turn right to Broadclyst go through the village and turn right along the B3181. Turn left over the motorway (brown tourist sign to Killerton NT ) and keeping Killerton House on your left continue towards Silverton. Go through Ellerhayes and at Red Cross turn left signposted Hayne; after half a mile turn left to Hayne. by a stone garden wall. We are half a mile down the lane on the left.
