Welcome to Ambleside. We are a small family run bed and breakfast located in the heart of East Looe, Cornwall.
We can offer beautiful views across to the river and beyond, and were only a 2 minute walk from Looe's many shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and, of course, Looe's stunning sandy beach.
We have two large double ensuite rooms, both with excellent views across to the river leading into Looe harbour. These rooms can also be adapted to family or twin bed rooms, and include TV/DVD players, tea & coffee making facilities, mineral water, hairdryers, and a separate seating area situated within the rooms. Additional to this, we can offer a library of DVD's, books, and games for use on your stay if you wish. We also offer Beach toys (beach towels not included), and Crabbing equipment.
To the front of the house we have an attractive decked area with stunning views across to the river, Looe valley and West Looe, a view (which both rooms also share). This is a fantastic place for an enjoyable tea or coffee on your arrival, or even to have your breakfast! (weather permitting).

Local Attractions
|
In Looe you can spend a day on our sandy beach, or if you prefer, explore some of our more secluded beaches. Here at Ambleside we can provide you with the beach essentials (not including towels).
Looe has a large fishing fleet, so you may wish to take a look at the boat activity on the quay or even have a go yourself on one of the chartered boats here.
A ferry ride to Polperro or beyond can be taken, or if you prefer, a trip to Looe island or just across the river to West Looe.
Crabbing on the quay is great fun, and we can provide you with the line and bucket if you wish.
Ambleside is close to the Coastal path, and there are many great walks to be had. For something even more active, you may wish to Scuba dive or snorkel with Looe divers. You can organise activities for yourself such as Kayaking, Surfing Lessons, Horse Riding, Bike Rides, Archery and many other activities (even a Helicopter flight!), with active-8 the holiday activity company.
Looe also has numerous shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from.
Nearby Polperro is an extremely pretty fishing village and is also great for exploring. A little further is Fowey/Polruan, Whitsand Bay, and the essential visit to The Eden Project.
Plymouth is within regular bus or train routes, and particularly good is the train from Looe to Liskeard which runs along the Looe Valley Line, a journey which offers stunning views across Looe valley. From Liskeard, a continuation of your journey would take you to Plymouth over the spectacular Tamar Bridge. Well worth the effort. There are also regular bus services to Fowey/Polruan and Whitsand bay, timetables can be provided.
We have only touched on the many things you can do here, and would be only too happy to offer any further advice. |

B&B Location

Directions by Car: From Plymouth take the A38 West, then A387 or B3252 to Looe.
When you get to Looe railway station take a left turn located directly opposite the train station into 'Shutta' (The Globe Pub is on the corner).
Take the first right hand turn after The Globe onto Shutta Road and continue up the hill. At the top continue straight on, ignoring the sharp left hand turn, continue for approximately 100 metres where you will see our sign on the left hand side.
Please note that Shutta Road is very narrow, so larger vehicles (e.g. four wheel drives or large cars) may find it difficult to drive through.
If you're not sure, we would recommend you park at one of Looe's nearby car parks and make your way up on foot.
On Foot from Looe Town: From Looe town walk up Shutta Road. The entrance to Shutta Road is situated next to Barclays Bank, opposite the Guildhall, and behind the Swan pub.
From Looe train station follow details from 'Directions by Car'.
Directions by Train: We are a three minute walk from Looe train station. Take direction details from 'Directions by Car'.
Taxis: Looe has good taxi services, they can be obtained from the East Looe side of Looe Bridge. Or we can request a pick up from Ambleside if required.
