Bed and Breakfast Description

Relax in one of nine beautifully decorated bedrooms, many with spectacular views over the renowned Pavillion Gardens and boating lake. Leave your car on our adjacent private car park and enjoy a stroll along the Broad Walk (pedestrianised promenade) with its splendid oak trees and traditional streetlamps, to reach the beautifully-restored Buxton Opera House, the University and the bustling town centre, all of which are within a three minute walk of Buxton's Victorian Guest House.

Your hosts, Barbara and Alan, are pleased to welcome you to stay in their delightful home, which was built in 1860 for the then Duke of Devonshire. Buxton's Victorian Guest House has been extensively refurbished in recent years, and great care and attention has been taken to ensure your comfort and enjoyment for the duration of your stay in Buxton.

On your arrival, relax in the tranquility of the Guest Drawing Room and enjoy a complimentary tray of tea or coffee and biscuits before settling into the luxury of your individually styled bedroom. All rooms at Buxton's Victorian Guest House have en-suite facilities as well as television, hospitality tray and hair dryer.

We look forward to welcoming you to Buxton's Victorian Guest House.

Local Attractions

Whether you're visiting the Opera House, planning walks over the spectacular Peak District, shopping in the local town or simply relaxing in the tranquil gardens, Buxton's Victorian Guest House is the perfect accommodation.

A three minute walk along the Broad Walk leads to the Opera House, where plays and shows are featured all year round, the bustling town centre, the University of Derby and St Anne's Well, where you can taste the spa waters from a spring fountain. A short walk in the other direction leads to the fascinating Poole's Cavern, an exciting family day out, or the starting point for a range of exhilarating walks across the Peak District. There is a selection of famous stately homes close to our guest house, including,

Chatsworth House near Bakewell

Haddon Hall at Bakewell

Eyam Hal, Hope Valley near Baslow

Tissington Hall near Ashbourne

Capesthorne Hall near Macclesfield

Gawsworth Hall near Macclesfield

There is a wide variety of restaurants within a short walk of Buxton's Victorian Guest House, with styles to suit every taste.

The Peak District tourism website contains some excellent links to help you make the most of your visit to Buxton. Of course, there will be plenty of time to plan your day in the Guest Drawing Room, which contains guide books, maps and details of walks in the local area.

B&B Location

Please note, as the Broad Walk is a pedestrianised promenade, access to our car park is from Hartington Road.

As you approach Buxton, follow signs for Town Centre and Opera House. At the Opera House continue alongside the Pavilion Gardens for 100yds.

At the crossroads outside the Old Hall Hotel, turn right into Hartington Road. Continue for another 100yds until you see the entrance to our Car Park on the right.
