Bed and Breakfast Description
|
|
The Riverside is situated in Boscastle, one of the most picturesque parts of North Cornwall. Located in the South West of England, Boscastle and it's surrounding area are internationally recognised for their outstanding scenic beauty. Nestled in a secluded valley close to the harbour of Boscastle, The Riverside is open all year round. We have ten bedrooms catering for walkers, cyclists, day trippers or holiday breaks.
The Riverside was built around 1584, by Sir Richard Grenville of the Armada fame. He was the benefactor who provided Boscastle with its fine sea walls. The Riverside, situated along the River Valency, has ten spacious rooms with river or harbour views. The property has had an extensive refit in early 2005 and there are tea and coffee making facilities, colour televisions, central heating, wireless Internet access and ensuite facilities in every room.
The Riverside is only five minutes from the South West Coastal path and Boscastle Harbour, but is situated in the centre of the village. We are adjacent to all amenities, with excellent restaurants and pubs nearby.
A full English Breakfast is included in the room price and is served between 8.30 and 10.30 am.
We ask you to vacate your room by 11.00 am each morning, so that it can either be serviced or changed.
The business adopts a strict Non-smoking Policy throughout the bedrooms.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, with the exception of American Express. Cash or cheques with a valid guarantee card are also welcome.
The English Tourism Council and Southwest Tourism awarded The Riverside the prestigious FIVE STAR award for it's accommodation. |

Local Attractions
|
Today, Boscastle's attractions bring tourists from around the world. With spectacular scenery inland, the interesting old village cottages, or the popular rugged coastline, Boscastle has something to offer to everyone. The Museum of Witchcraft, now into it's 54th year, continues to be one of Cornwall's most popular museums. It illustrates how Witchcraft has survived into through the ages in this ancient landscape, with its many large collections and exhibitions.
Also well worth a visit is the unique 60ft waterfall, at the head of the idyllic wooded valley of St. Nectan's Glen. Just a few miles away near Tintagel, it can be approached by several cliff footpaths.
Only five miles from the hotel, there is a championship length golf course at Bowood Park in Camelford.
The first nine holes are set amid rolling hills, the last nine are played through a wooded valley, which was once the deer park of the infamous Black Prince. Featuring four par 5's, including the 600 yard seventh, Bowood will appeal to both the high and low handicapper alike.
fancy a spot of fishing? The "Peganina" is a safe, local fast Lochin 33 boat, with all safety equipment for 10 persons with a 20 mile licence.
Available from the harbour - 8 hour day trips cost from £25.00, 2 hour Mackerel trips cost from £9.00 and half day trips from £18.00. Bookings can be taken at The Rock Shop next door to The Riverside. |

B&B Location
|
We are located on the breathtaking North Cornish coast, only 30 minutes from the main A30. By Car...
Improved motorway links have put North Cornwall within easy reach. The A30 is dual carriageway from the M5, with fast roads connecting Bude, Camelford, Wadebridge and Padstow:
From Exeter, take the A30 until just past Launceston. At the Kennard's House exit sign posted to North Cornwall, take the A395. After approximately 9 miles you will see "Poppies Cafe" on your right hand side. Take the right turn immediately after this, sign posted "Boscastle".
This will bring you to the main A39, where you turn left and then immediately turn right. Follow this road to the B3266, where at the T-junction, you turn right to Boscastle.
As you enter the village, you will pass a garage on your left and at the T-junction, turn right sign posted to Boscastle harbour. Follow this road down into the valley, where The Riverside is on your right just after the bridge. From Barnstaple, take the A39 to Bude, continuing on the main A39, heading for Camelford. Approximately 10 miles past Bude, take the B3263 sign posted to Boscastle.
Follow this road into the village. You will go past the car park on your left, with The Riverside is approximately 50 metres along the road on your left. By Rail...
The nearest train station is Bodmin Parkway. However, due to the layout of the main line it can be easier and cheaper to disembark at Exeter St Davids. From there, Western Greyhound have bus connections to Camelford. For more detailed information, see our 'By Coach...' section.
