After searching for a hotel for two years Stewart and I came across Burford House for sale, with the then owners having been operating the hotel for eleven and a half years. Driving from the A40 down the Cotswold stone High Street in glorious sunshine we hoped that this hotel would be the one. Just stepping into the hall we knew that this was a very special place which was immediately backed up by the high standard of accommodation throughout the hotel. Each of the eight bedrooms so very individual and each with stunning bathrooms, rooms in their own right rather than the usual cut-offs of the bedroom. We both decided there and then this was where we wanted to work and live.
A 17th Century landmark on the high street, it has become, if you believe what you read and hear, one of the most highly regarded small hotels in the lovely Cotswolds, one of Britain's most outstanding beautiful areas.
We are very lucky to have retained the small team of enthusiastic and caring local staff and between us we aim to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, really good bedrooms and bathrooms and the best breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners.
We are very privileged that guests who have been returning to Burford house year after year still hold the hotel with high esteem and we have the pleasure of welcoming them back.
