Bed and Breakfast Description
|
|
Located in a tree-lined residential area of North Oxford (just 15 minutes walk from the City Centre), Parklands offers bed and breakfast accommodation for up to 30 guests in the late Victorian former home of an Oxford Don.
In addition to our 15 well-appointed en-suite rooms, we also offer a comfortable guest lounge (complete with a fully licensed bar) and a private walled garden for unwinding after a long day's work or play.
We welcome children of all ages (cots can be provided for the little ones) to our totally non-smoking establishment and, for the business visitor, provide various office facilities (such as fax, email, photocopying etc) directly on the premises. FREE wireless broadband is available throughout.
We are easily reached from an excellent network of major roads (ample car parking is provided on-site) or via public transport, with Oxford's railway and bus stations just 1½ miles away.
This late Victorian home, now a home-from-home, has been extensively refurbished to a high standard (in-keeping with many of its original features) and comprises 15 comfortable, tastefully decorated en-suite rooms.
Each of our non-smoking guest bedrooms is centrally heated and features:
En-suite bathroom equipped with a powerful shower Wireless broadband internet Remote control television
We also have cots available, ironing facilities, a guest lounge & bar, a garden and a private office for guest use - the latter equipped with fax machine, PC and copier / printer.
Breakfast at Parklands is prepared daily from fresh ingredients of the highest quality and cooked to order. We offer fresh free range eggs, best back bacon & lovely plump pork sausages supplied by our local butcher (Quorn alternatives available for vegetarians). Our fresh tomatoes and mushrooms are also locally-sourced and we complete the picture with generous helpings of Heinz baked beans and plum tomatoes. |

Local Attractions
|
Oxford, the “City of Dreaming Spires” has so much to offer to the visitor - University Colleges, Museums, art galleries, theatre, punting on the river, walking tours, parks & gardens, shopping and much much more.
Parklands is just 15 minutes walk away from the City Centre and University Colleges or you can use the excellent bus service from North Oxford. The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford's famous Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera and the Botanic Gardens are also within walking distance and there are art galleries on North Parade as close as just 5 minutes away.
For the more adventurous, there's always the time-honoured tradition of punting on the river - pick up a punt (and some tips for how to stay on it) at The Cherwell Boathouse just 8 minutes away. Alternatively, the land lubbers amongst you might prefer to explore via one of the many organised walking tours available from the Tourist Information Centre (15 minutes away on Broad Street) or perhaps join the Oxford City Sightseeing Tour whose buses stop just 2 minutes from our front door.
Shop-a-holics will find both big names and small independents available for retail therapy, including unique little gems such as Alice's Shop (filled with Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland memorabilia) in St Aldates and the Covered Market in Oxford's famous High Street. Don't forget the souvenirs!
Finally, as the evening closes in on a full day's exploring, those still with any energy left might enjoy catching the latest production at one of Oxford's popular theatres followed by a late dinner at a City Centre restaurant (or perhaps at one of our favourites back in North Oxford) before returning to Parklands for a well-deserved rest.

B&B Location
|
Oxford is centrally located and easily reached from an excellent network of major roads.
If you are driving: Join the Oxford ring road and at the junction with the A4165, take the Banbury Road in towards Summertown and Oxford City Centre. Follow this road for approximately 1¼ miles and you will see Parklands on your left hand side.
Should you be arriving in Oxford via train (Oxford Train Station) or coach (Gloucester Green Coach Station), we would suggest making use of a taxi. There are always taxis available at the stations, costing around £5, which will bring you and your luggage straight to our front door.
