Woodside offers Bed & Breakfast accommodation with a warm and friendly welcome awaiting visitors. A welcome cup of tea or coffee, served with either homemade shortbread biscuits, chocolate cake or fresh cream scones, provided at no extra cost, can be enjoyed as the visitor takes in the glorious views from Woodside which enjoys a picturesque rural setting in the isolated hamlet of Stanton Lees on the southern plateau of the Peak District National Park.
Wonderful, Warm Welcome at Woodside!
Woodside is a 4 bedroom stone built cottage with imposing views. The landscaped garden is a haven to many countryside birds that frequent the attractive and varied garden both in winter and summer as can be seen through these visitors photographs. Walks are available direct from the house.
The accommodation consists of 3 well appointed and tastefully decorated bedrooms; 2 double en suite bedrooms ('front' & 'rear' facing rooms); plus a twin bedroom with it own private/ensuite bathroom.
One double bedroom can be used as a family room and faces up to the moor. All rooms have TV, radio, hairdryer and visitor's hospitality tray.
The spacious lounge, heated by a log burning stove, with TV offers comfort and relaxation to visitors after a fulfilling day. |

Woodside is situated above Rowsley in the hamlet of Stanton Lees, just below Stanton Moor, renowned for its fine Bronze Age remains including the Nine Ladies Stone Circle and burial grounds.
The house offers panoramic views from the picturesque hamlet situated on the Southern Plateau of the Peak District.
The area is teeming with wildlife, fauna and flora including a rare herd of Black Norwegian Fallow Deer. Garden birds to be seen at Woodside include Greater and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Goldcrests, as well as the usual birds, and various migratory birds in their season, whilst Pheasants feel at home on the patio.
The River Derwent meanders in the valley below and Peak Rail can be observed plying its trade along the valley.
Bakewell and Matlock are 4.5 miles away, nearby are Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.
Eyam is renowned for its attempts in 1665 to contain the plague within the village. Other pretty Peakland villages, Alport, Milldale, Hartington and Bonsall.
The Peak District is 555 square miles with 1,600 miles of walks, and most of it can be accessed within 45 minutes from Woodside including the Staffordshire moorlands home to the pretty village of Longnor and interesting rock formations of The Roaches, the High Peak areas like Edale, Mam Tor and Castleton and the beautiful Goyt Valley above Buxton.
The proprietor has researched and written personalised routes for her visitors which can include walks for the more energetic. These interesting and helpful routes have proved extremely popular and informative as the writer is continually exploring the area in which she has lived all her life, having walked it extensively and previously taught history, geography and R.E. There is no need to purchase expensive maps and walks of the area for all are available and can be borrowed from Woodside. Walks are available direct from the house. |

From Ashbourne
Take the A 515 towards Buxton, then right onto B 5056 for 11 miles and turn right at the sign for Birchover. Drive to the top of the village and turn right at the fork signposted to Stanton Lees. Left opposite the Chapel to the junction. Turn left, Woodside is the 2nd house on the right.
From Bakewell:
Take A6 to Rowsley, turn right opposite the Peacock Hotel. Over the bridge, immediately turn right and up to the crossroads. Turn left to Stanton Lees. Woodside is the 1st house on the left, on the ROADSIDE, after the '30 mph' and 'Stanton Lees' signs.
From Matlock:
Take the A6 towards Bakewell for 2 miles. First left at the Red House hotel to the cross roads, left on to B5057 into Darley Bridge. Opposite the Three Stags Heads pub turn right to Stanton Lees. In the village take the right fork for 200 yards. Woodside is the 5th house on the right.
