Bed and Breakfast Description
|
|
The Malt House and Broad Campden are at the heart of the Cotswolds. Honey-coloured limestone cottages clustered around church and pub, dry-stone walls and sheep grazing on the gentle hillsides – this is the quintessence of English countryside. As with the best Cotswold villages, many of Broad Campden’s pleasures are not immediately obvious: the richness of the backlands - gardens, greenswards, orchards, streams, walks and borders.
This delightful Cotswold bed and breakfast is a 20-minute stroll away from the architecturally sublime market town of Chipping Campden with its 17th-century market hall as well as restaurants, pubs and shops.
In a really old house no room is ever the same. Over the years the Malt House rooms have evolved: an antique table here, a restored cedar wardrobe there; maybe a four-poster in that room, fine Royal Worcester china in another. And everywhere fresh flowers from the garden; soft towels and fragrant oils in the en suite bathrooms. The six bedrooms and one Garden Suite are decorated in fresh colours and classically elegant fabrics. Three rooms have their own entrances directly from the garden. Some rooms have extra beds and there is great flexibility for all types of accommodation requirements. Then breakfast: strong fresh coffee, home-grown rhubarb, freshly squeezed orange juice, berries in season from the kitchen garden, home-made breads, granola and muesli, fresh Cotswold eggs and bacon. A fine breakfast from one of the finest bed and breakfasts in Chipping Campden!

Local Attractions
|
The beautiful market town of Chipping Campden is a mile away. It’s a great place to wander round and for shopping. It has a dozen or so restaurants and pubs for lunch and dinner. Broad Campden itself has a super local pub, and one of the best gastro-pubs in England is at Paxford, two miles south. There are famous and wonderfully-named Cotswold villages nearby: Stow-on-the-Wold, The Slaughters, Broadway, Blockley, and Moreton-in-Marsh. Visually delicious as well as intriguing, between them they have markets, antique shops, galleries, tea shops, restaurants and pubs.
We will happily recommend the best and the newest of the eating establishments and make reservations on your behalf. A full list with telephone numbers is available upon arrival.
Blenheim Palace, one of Britain's greatest country houses, is a 40-minute drive away, as is Warwick Castle. Closer still are other extraordinary National Trust houses, and inspiring gardens, such as Snowshill Manor and Hidcote Manor. And just up the road are the wonderful Kiftsgate Court Gardens.
Stratford-upon-Avon is 10 miles north and Oxford and Cheltenham are within easy striking distance.
The Cotswolds is an area famed for its walks, the greatest of which is the Cotswold Way, which you can join from the Malt House, even if you’re not hiking all the way to Bath! |
