It is ideally placed for exploring the rest of the Lake District and is only a few minutes away from the beautiful Kentmere valley, and the bustling towns of Windermere and Kendal.

Staveley itself has much to offer - excellent walking , fishing & Cycling, a vibrant array of local business's including Hawkshead Brewery, Wheelbase & Lucy Cooks - plenty on offer !!

We offer top quality accommodation and are particularly proud of the excellent food we serve from our interesting and varied menu. We have a great selection of five handpulled local ales and feature regular guest beers.

Five Cosy bedrooms offering comfortable friendly accommodation in one of the best areas of the Lakes..

We look forward to welcoming you to the Eagle & Child Inn.We have 5 Cosy Bedrooms all boast en-suite facilities, two with bath and shower. We have twin or double rooms, as well as a family room. All are tastefully decorated to a high standard - all with great views.

Imagine - A good hike up the valley, over to Troutbeck and back, sit by the fire with a couple of Bluebirds (beer that is). Then a juicy Kentmere lamb shank with perhaps a Refreshing Hawkshead or even a Wicked Jimmy if you prefer ! mebbes a Kronenbourg Blanc for the Continental types! - Either way a good bed to follow and a good Cumberland breakfast the next day - all prepared with the best local ingredients.

Walking in the Lakes

We are extremely well situated as a base for exploring the Lakeland fells. High Street, Kentmere, and the Eastern fells are the nearest, but the rest of the Lakes is only a short drive away.

If you like the high mountains then try such challenges as the Fairfield Horseshoe, the Kentmere Round or the Helvellyn Ridge. At a more sedate pace there are many low level walks and rambles in and around the village,
all with breathtaking views of the higher fells.

Most of the lakes are only a very short drive away and many have wonderful walks around them. Why not escape to the more tranquil parts and relax by the waters edge.

Alfred Wainright himself spent a lot of time in this part of the Lakes. Within walking distance is one of his favourite spots, Orrest Head, just above Windermere. It's only a few miles from us - you'll not be disappointed with the spectacular views.

The Eagle and Child inn is situated on the edge of the quiet Lakeland village of Staveley.
