Our establishment is fitted with central heating throughout. All or some rooms have ensuite facilities. There are golf facilitiesor nearby. Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request. There are horse riding facilities nearby. We're sorry, we do not accept pets.

Bed and Breakfast Description

 

Broadlands Guest House is in the heart of the English Lake District. A traditional stone built Victorian house built circa 1860 and is located in a quiet road and with lovely views overlooking Ellethwaite Park.

Broadlands is a traditional Lakeland Stone built Victorian Guest House, proudly awarded a 3 Diamond AA rating, situated in a quiet but convenient location in Windermere, the heart of the Lake District.

It is owned and run by Brian and Janette Grundy who have worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years

BEDROOMS
All five rooms are ensuite with shower,freshly decorated with excellent quality soft furnishings. The rooms all feature new LCD flat screen TVs, radio alarm clocks,hairdryers, well stocked hospitality trays,complimentary toiletries and other odds and ends to make your stay comfortable.

Spacious airy double / Twin room with a double and a single bed located at the front of the property with lovely views overlooking Ellerthwaite Park.Sleeps a maximum of three.

The house is immaculatley decorated and spotlessly clean. The five ensuite rooms are comfortably furnished and have been recently reburbished. Freshly cooked breakfasts are served in the airy dining room and we use as much local produce as is possible. We are happy to cater for special diets with previous notice.

 

Windermere Attractions

 
The English Lake District is one of the most beautiful places in the UK and begs to be explored.

There are activities here which will appeal to all types - whether you're looking for a lazy break away from it all, or a short action-packed holiday.

2 minutes from the centre of Windermere Village and a pleasant 15 minute walk to the village of Bowness on Windermere and the Lake.

Ideally located for public transport.The local open topped bus can be caught from the top of the road and the train and coach station is a 10 minute walk away.There are all grades of walks which can be started from the house and we are happy to advise and have maps and guides to help.Local organised tours can also be arranged for you with collection and drop off at the property.

We can offer advice on walks, places of interest to visit, and choosing a restaurant, from the many excellent ones available. Brian is an avid golfer and will be happy to advise on the local courses.

Eclipse Global Outdoor Activities
If it is action you're after, you can go abseiling, caving, kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing and more with Eclipse Global Events. The company is based in Windermere.

Windermere Steamboat Centre
Windermere Steamboat Centre is a museum with a fascinating historic collection of steam and other boats.
Lakeland Equestrian
If you're a fan of horses and horse riding then visit Lakeland Equestrian Centre - they provide trails, treks and training to anyone with any degree of riding experience.

Blackwell Arts and Craft House With galleries, exhibitions, the historic Blackwell House (opened by HRH The Prince of Wales) is well worth a visit.

If you'd prefer a guided tour of what the lake district has to offer, then Park Tours will appeal to you.

Travelling By Rail
Windermere train station is a 500m walk from Broadlands (as can be seen on the map). Changing at Oxenholme, there are frequent services to the North and South.

Travelling By Car
From the South: Leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere. When you reach the village turn left where it says 'Town Centre'into Victoria Street. Follow the one way system to the end and take the first turning on the left after the pedestrian crossing, into 'Broad Street'. Broadlands is about 100 metres on the left. Parking on the road opposite Broadlands or further on the right there is a car park.

From the North: Leave the M6 motorway at junction 40 and follow the A66 in the direction of Keswick. After about 1 mile turn left at a roundabout towards Windermere, follow the signs to Windermere passing alongside Ullswater and through Glennridding then over the Kirkstone Pass and down into Windermere. You will reach the A1951 at a mini-roundabout. Turn left. After about half a mile turn right into Windermere and follow the one way system as above.

Travelling By Coach
Regular coach services operate to Windermere Bus Station from all parts of the UK.
