Description

The Georgian facade of the White Bear faces the centre of the market square in Shipston on Stour. For many years the White Bear Hotel has been a meeting place for locals.

The Bear, as it is known to the locals, is a lively traditional pub situated on the A3400 in the north Cotswold's, offering good food and fine ales. You can be assured of a warm welcome from the friendly staff whether for a quick drink or a short break.

The White Bear Hotel is the perfect location from which to tour the heart of England. The University City of Oxford, Shakespeare's Stratford and the working towns of the Cotswold's such as Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh and Chipping Norton are all just a short trip away.

The White Bear Hotel has been a meeting place for local residents for a number of years and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome by all.

'The Bear' as its known locally has two bars which have built a reputation for their offerings of traditional real ales and lagers.Our cellar also stocks a variety of fine wines to suit all tastes.

Special requests can be catered for upon prior notification.

A range of bar snacks and lighter meals are available to order in the bar, or why not enjoy a more hearty meal in our restaurant.

External smoking area available within the courtyard.

There are ten comfortable en suite bedrooms (all non-smoking) all with colour television and tea/coffee making facilities.

Single, double and twin bedded rooms are priced per room per night and include full English Breakfast. Availability is limited at weekends due to high demand so please book early.


Check in is usually after midday, however, if the room is ready in advance you are welcome to check in. Secure luggage holding facilities are available. We request you check out by 10:00 am on day of departure.

Local Attractions
The town is an excellent base for touring local Cotswold towns, such as Moreton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold and Chipping Campden.

All are within easy driving distance offering a feel of working Cotswold towns with local farmers markets and other events adding to their charm.

There are various golf courses in the area such as Brailles, Tadmarton Heath, and three courses in Stratford-upon-Avon. It can make for a great weekend away.

Stratford-upon-Avon is less than eight miles away and has three Royal Shakespeare Theatres which put on some of the finest productions, all year round.

Location
The White Bear is easy to find. It is in the Market Square of Shipston on Stour with easy routes to Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Birmingham, the National Exhibition Center and Oxford.

Situatedon the A3400, approximately eight miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon and thirty miles north of Oxford. It can be approached from Banbury (M40) along B4035 or along the A429 the Fosseway, an ancient Roman road, which lies just North of the town.

The nearest train stations are in Banbury or Moreton in Marsh, which both have regular trains from London.
