Bed and Breakfast Description

Keith and Annette Monnelly welcome you to enjoy bed and breakfast in their lovingly restored, non-smoking, old vicarage built in 1690. Set in the picturesque village of Belford, Northumberland, our house is located in a peaceful situation next to the thirteenth century churchyard of St. Mary's C of E Parish Church.

On arrival, weather permitting, you may like to recharge your batteries with a pot of coffee or tea in our private, enclosed garden at the front of the house.

Furnished with antiques and bric a brac collected over the years, we have two large letting bedrooms suitable for four people. We regret we cannot cater for children or pets, as we have our own cat, Henry, who likes to greet our guests when they arrive!

The guest lounge has beamed ceilings, wood burning stove, wide screen TV and lots of comfy sofas to make your stay with us as relaxing as possible.

We also have a plentiful supply of wildlife and walking books, maps and information about the surrounding area. We are both keen walkers and bird watchers who love to pass on our favourite tips and spots to our guests!

The Garden Room
The Garden Room is situated at the front of the house overlooking the garden and churchyard of St. Mary's. This is a large comfortable double bedroom with shower en-suite.

The Armoury
Named after an old soldier who used to lodge here at the turn of the twentieth century, this twin-bedded room is peacefully located at the back of the house overlooking the grassy churchyard. A private bathroom with huge, original roll top bath is situated next door. Provided solely for the use of guests staying in The Armoury, the whole suite can be curtained off from the rest of the house for absolute privacy.

Each room has a remote controlled television, radio, toiletries, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities with ample supplies of milk, biscuits and sweets.

Local Attractions

Belford is a unique village, complete with nine-hole golf course, situated half a mile away from the Al, with easy access to all the places of outstanding natural beauty that you may wish to visit.

Only five miles from the beautiful Bamburgh Castle, village and vast expanses of sandy beaches; four miles from the bird-watchers' paradise of Budle Bay; three miles from the solitude and tranquility of Ross Sands and a short drive from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands, famous for its colony of grey seals and where in June and July you can see the wonderful antics of the colourful puffins and protective terns.

Inland, the Cheviot Hills are close by for those of you who want to explore on foot or by car; Bowden Doors and the Kyloe Hills are famous for their rock climbing routes; Alnwick Castle and its world-renowned AInwick Garden complete with spectacular new tree house are fifteen minutes away by car; the castles of Chillingham, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth are all worth a visit, not to mention the Elizabethan walled town of Berwick upon Tweed or the ancient villages of Ford and Etal, or the numerous golf courses that are dotted along our beautiful coastline.

Belford itself is a perfect location to relax after a long day's sightseeing. The Black Swan Hotel and The Bluebell Hotel are less than five minutes walk away, with the Bluebell providing extensive bar menus as well as a-la-carte if you prefer. Bar meals are also available at the Salmon Inn.

"The Belford" with its nine hole golf course and restaurant is open all day for anything from coffee to three course meals; guests staying with us can enjoy a free bottle of wine at the weekends if they order two or more courses.
Well House Coffee Shop is open for light lunches and snacks and the John Dory Chip Shop can provide you with a hearty Northumbrian fish and chip supper.

B&B Location
