Description

Situated in the heart of Alnwick, Prudhoe Croft is within a few minutes walk of shops, restaurants and attractions such as Alnwick Castle, The Alnwick Garden and Barter Books. Although so central, we are in a quiet location with a peaceful south facing garden to relax in - weather permitting!
We also have off street parking.

After a busy day sight seeing, there is plenty of space to relax in the guests’ lounge/ dining room or in the garden before taking a leisurely stroll to the restaurants in town.

Prudhoe Croft was established as Bed and Breakfast in 2006. The house may be new to the business but Liz, the proprietor, brings a wealth of experience from running a very successful bed and breakfast in Ford village, near Berwick upon Tweed, where she achieved the 4 diamond and silver award status.

This year, 2008, we have also been awarded a silver grading by the Green Business Tourism Scheme, reflecting the importance of sustainability issues to us.

We have upgraded Prudhoe Croft to a high standard with new en suite bathrooms to the guest rooms, while retaining the character of the Victorian era.

The main part of the house was built in 1850 and further rooms added early in the 1900s. The half landing above is the link between the two parts of the house and overlooks the south facing garden.

Choose from our extensive breakfast menu. We use local produce, sourced from farmers’ markets along with local grocers and butchers.

We have two guest bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms

Each room has TV with teletext and remote control, clock radio, hairdryer and hospitality tray which includes a selection of herbal teas as well as coffee, hot chocolate and horlicks.

For those cooler nights there are warm blankets and hot water bottles!

The en suite bathrooms also have complementary toiletries.

Local Attractions

Situated in the heart of Northumberland, Alnwick is the ideal place to stay and experience the wide range of tourist attractions the county has to offer., including the beautiful Heritage coastline, the Cheviot Hills, castles and gardens.

We are within easy walking distance of Alnwick Castle, the Alnwick Garden, with it’s stunning Tree House restaurant and the Bailiffgate Museum. Barter Books, a wonderful second hand book emporium is just at the end of Prudhoe Street and there is a good choice of restaurants in the town for your evening meal.

Location

Prudhoe Croft is centrally located in Alnwick and easily accessible by both road and rail.

The town is adjacent to the A1 and has links to the A697, an alternative route to Scotland via the picturesque Borders, and west to Rothbury and Hexham.

Alnmouth railway station, on the east coast line, running from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh, is just 4 miles from Alnwick. There is an hourly bus link between Alnwick and the station and several local taxi firms which would need to be pre booked.

The nearest airport is Newcastle.
