Local Attractions

The unique attractions of a stunning new multi-million pound Marina complex, an old town steeped in 1,000 years of history and mile after mile of golden sands. There is alot to discover and enjoy in Hartlepool

Hartlepool Marina is one of the most modern Marina facilities in Europe. Featuring one of Europe's biggest boat hoists and attracting hundreds of vessels, the £60 million Marina is Hartlepool's most alluring and relaxing location. With high-class waterside restaurants, modern appartment blocks and romantic promenades, these are just some of the sights you will come across when you visit this fabulous destination.

Hartlepool Marina's centrepiece is the award-winning Historic Quay - a faithful reproduction of an 18th century seaport portraying the exciting experience of what life was like at the time of Nelson and Trafalgar. Hartlepool Historic Quay is home to the Tincomalee - Europe's oldest floating warship! The ship was restored by the people of Hartlepool so it's only fitting that it now makes up the centrepiece of the spectacular Historic Quay.

The Museum of Hartlepool is the finest free show in town and it tells the story of Hartlepool from prehistoric times to the present day.

Located beside Hartlepool Historic Quay, the Museum of Hartlepool features sea monsters, a real 'fishing coble' to climb aboard, a Celtic 'Round House' building, the first 'gas illuminated lighthouse', models, computer interactive displays and the largest exhibit of all - the PSS Wingfield Castle, a fully restored paddle steamer, with the Coble Cafe on board.

Hartlepool has established itself as one of the top wreck cod venues in the country. For sheer consistency of catches it proves hard to beat. The modern marina complex has helped attract anglers from all corners of the UK.

Middleton Grange is a unique shopping destination that makes for a really popular day out, whatever the weather - and it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every month.
