The front reception room serves as the dining room by morning and lounge in the afternoon and evening. It is furnished with antiques and has stripped floors and a beautiful Victorian fireplace.

The aim of the establishment is to offer a quiet, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in attractive surroundings. As only six people catered for at any one time, guests can expect to recieve a high standard of service coupled with good home-cooking.

Local Attractions

We are within walking distance of some of the city's finest pubs and restaurants.

Albert Street is only a five minute walk from Durham's bus station & only a three minute walk from the railway station.

Albert Street remains one of Durham's most architecturally interesting and original streets. It lies just off the busy shopping area of North Road, which itself leads down to the river banks and central market square.

Explore the City and the County
Historical sites such as Durham Cathedral and castle are only ten to fifteen minutes walk and both the Oriental Museum and Botanic Garden can also be reached easily on foot.

Ideal for visiting the award winning Beamish Open Air Museum, County Cricket at the Durham County Cricket Club at Chester-le-Street and you can take to the country in the nearby Durham Dales.

The region has many small villages and is also home to the John and Josephine Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, and the mediaeval stronghold of Raby Castle with it's deer park is well worth a visit.

Durham makes an excellent base for exploring the surrounding national parks and countryside. Northumberland, Weardale, Teesdale and the North Yorkshire Moors are all excellent areas for walking and are accessible either car or public transport.

To the north there is Newcastle and the Gateshead Metro Centre, one of the largest shopping complexes in Europe.
