Your hosts Mike & Michelle would like to welcome you to The George, a 15th Century coaching inn set in the heart of Oxfordshire. Dorchester-on-Thames is central to many major centres of commerce and historic sites in southern England, including London, Birmingham and the whole of the M4 corridor. Heathrow and Birmingham international airports are within an hours drive.
A brief history:
The Hotel combines the beauty of an historic building, complete with oak beams and inglenook fireplaces, with all the advantages of a modern hotel. The George Hotel is a striking, idyllic 15th Century coaching inn, built in 1495 it is one of the oldest coaching inns in the country, allowing you to tread on the path of history. Situated opposite the famous Dorchester Abbey & Museum.
Once inside:
Time to unwind, in our peaceful lounge, warm, friendly bar or tranquile Restaurant. Sunday mornings enjoy a drink or maybe a meal in front our roaring log fires while listning to the Abbey bells.

The George Hotel provides 17 en-suite bedrooms set in peaceful surroundings, all individually decorated and furnished with fine antiques.
Outside
Our versatile, beautifully gardens create the perfect setting for that quiet drink, the perfect marquee wedding reception, a great meeting place for family and friends and a safe, secure environment for our younger guests to explore.
At the George we have a selection of en-suite rooms to suite your needs. Four poster and feature rooms for that special occasion, family rooms, pretty doubles & singles all well equipped for the business traveller & recreational guest alike.
All rooms have en suite bathroom, colour television, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, an alarm clock radio and lovely views of either our extensive gardens or to the front Dorchester Abbey.
