Description

The Marlborough House Hotel is conveniently situated just 1.5 miles north of Oxford’s historic City Centre, whilst still being within easy reach of the M40 and the A34 ring road.

Custom built in 1990 to a traditional design, the hotel blends comfortably with its Victorian neighbours in a predominantly residential area. It is a few minutes walk from the very popular Summertown Shopping Centre, with its wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

Our seventeen bedrooms, from singles to family rooms, all have en-suite facilities, kitchenettes and mini-bars and are of great appeal to guests who prefer a degree of independence.

For the business traveller, we have recently installed a free wireless network covering the coffee lounge and many of the rooms. If you require in-room access be sure to tell us when you book.

The Marlborough House Hotel can provide singles, twins, doubles and family rooms. All rooms are en-suite, with all but one of them having both baths and showers. Each of the rooms benefit from having self-catering facilities.

The hotel was purpose built in 1990, and you'll find spacious, clean, fresh, comfortable rooms as standard.

Local Attractions

Oxford, ‘The City of Dreaming Spires’, is famous the world over for its University and its place in history. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars. Oxford has been an established town since the 9th century, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years.

With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty for the tourist to do and see. Whether it’s visiting one of the many historic buildings, colleges or museums, going out for a drink or a meal, taking in a show, or shopping until you drop - Oxford has it all.

Blenheim Palace - This magnificent stately home was built for the ancestors of Winston Churchill and was his birthplace. It lies just north of Oxford in Woodstock.

Bodleian Library - The Divinity School and the Bodleian’s exhibition room are open to the public. They receive a quarter of a million visitors each year.

Oxford City Sightseeing – Bus tours of the City. On the tour you will see Magdalen College, The site of William Morris's first workshop, University Science Area, the City Walls, Sheldonian Theatre, Ashmolean Museum, Martyr's Memorial, Christ Church College, River Cherwell, Carfax Tower, Alice's Shop, Radcliffe Infirmary, Bodleian Library, The High, Broad Street and the University Parks.

North Oxford Golf Club - a private members club with traditional values, where visitors and societies are made to feel welcome.

Set in eighty acres of mature parkland just three miles from Oxford City centre and in close proximity to the M40, A34 and A40 the 18 hole course provides a challenge that will test the skills of golfers of all ages and abilities. The clubhouse has a friendly atmosphere and provides light snacks and meals that are served in the dining area and there is a fully licensed bar.

FROM THE NORTH

Take junction 9 from the M40 and follow signs for the A34 towards Oxford. At the Peartree Interchange take the A44 to Oxford. Follow signs to the 'City Centre' and after the second set of traffic lights you will find us on your right hand side.

FROM THE SOUTH

Take junction 8 from the M40 and follow the signs for the A40 to Oxford. At the first roundabout (Green Road Roundabout), take the 3rd exit signed the Ring Road North, A40, the West and Cheltenham. Go straight over the next roundabout and continue following signs for A40 Cheltenham and Evesham. At the next roundabout (Wolvercote), take the 1st exit sign posted 'City Centre' and after the second set of traffic lights you will find us on your right hand side..

FROM THE A34 NORTH

Exit to M40 Junction 9 onto A34. Exit A34 at the A44 junction and at the (Peartree) roundabout take 2nd exit signposted 'Oxford'. At the next roundabout (Wolvercote) take the 3rd exit signposted 'City Centre'. After the second set of traffic lights you will find us on your right hand side.

FROM THE A34 SOUTH

Follow signs for A34 Northbound until reaching the Peartree Interchange (also sign posted 'Blenheim Palace'). Take the A44 to Oxford. At the Wolvercote roundabout take the exit sign posted to 'City Centre' and after the second set of traffic lights you will find us on your right hand side.
