Description

Westview is in the quiet rural village of Northmoor some 10 miles to the west of Oxford. We have two B and B rooms in the house.

At Westview we aim to provide a high level of personal service to our guests and to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

There are two double rooms which share a good sized bathroom. There is also a sitting room with TV reserved for guests. Coffee, tea and biscuits are always available for you to have when you want.

Full English breakfast (or whatever you prefer) is served in the farmhouse kitchen at a time to suit you.

The house has a large garden where you can enjoy an evening stroll. A paddock (complete with horses, ducks, chickens, etc) is alongside the garden. If you're feeling more energetic, a ten minute walk across open fields brings you to the quiet water meadows on the banks of the River Thames.

We can recommend local pubs which provide good food at lunchtime and in the evenings. The nearest, The Red Lion, is in the village (5 minute walk) with several others within 2 or 3 miles.

We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. We encourage you to ask us before you arrive or at any time during your stay if there is anything we can do to help you.

Local Attractions

Whether you are interested in walking, cycling or fishing, looking at historic buildings and museums or driving through the Oxfordshire countryside or The Cotswolds there are plenty of opportunities within a few miles of Northmoor. Here are a few ideas and links you can follow for more information to help you plan your stay with us.

Walking and Cycling
You can take a walk through the field beside the house to the water meadows and banks of the River Thames. Within 20 minutes you can reach Northmoor Lock and watch more energetic holidaymakers taking their boats through the lock.

The Oxfordshire Cycleway passes our front door - so if cycling is your hobby you have found the perfect place to stay!

Historic Sites and Museums
The colleges of Oxford University, and the Oxford museums and art galleries are renowned throughtout the world. Visit them on foot or enjoy a tourist bus ride of this ancient city of culture. There are also many historic houses which are open to the public. Follow the links below for more information.

Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace, home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough, and one of Britain's greatest houses, is the Birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. It has many attractions for the whole family.

Kingston Bagpuize House
The family home of Virginia Grant and her children Elizabeth and Alexander, Kingston Bagpuize House is open to the public on selected days and for group visits, by appointment, throughout the year. The house and grounds are also available for private functions, corporate events and filming.

Rousham House
Rousham and its landscape garden should be a place of pilgrimage for students of the work of William Kent (1685-1748). Rousham represents the first phase of English landscape design and remains almost as Kent left it with many features which delighted eighteenth century visitors to Rousham still in situ.

The house, built in 1635 by Sir Robert Dormer, is still in the ownership of the Kent family.
