Description

Welcome to The Buttery, set on the pedestrianised part of historic Broad Street, we are Oxford’s newest accommodation provider; an oasis of tranquillity in the midst of this vibrant, ancient city. If you want to be surrounded by dreaming spires, beautiful buildings, celebrated pubs a fantastic range of restaurants, theatre and cinemas, then The Buttery is the place to stay.

We are the only accommodation provider on this spacious, gracious thoroughfare, which is home to Oxford University’s Sheldonian Theatre, two colleges, The Museum of the History of Science and the world-famous Blackwell’s bookshop. Oxford’s central shopping district starts on your left, whilst the Broad (as it is known locally), widens out to your right. No other site offers such a perfect location.

Whether you are looking for a short break or longer stay, The Buttery looks forward to welcoming you to our wonderful jewel, here in the heart of Oxford.

In line with the Oxford City Council's carbon reduction scheme, we have no private parking facilities. We recommend the use of the City's park and ride sites.

The Buttery offers sixteen bedrooms. Spacious and airy with high ceilings. Some with original fireplaces, decorated in a simple, neutral style with light colours. The majority have panoramic views of beautiful colleges, while others overlook Ship Street and College buildings.
All offer:

En-suite facilities
Broadband internet access
Flat-screen televisions
Tea/coffee making facilities in bedrooms
Hairdryer/electric shaver points
Telephone

On the ground floor is our modern, bright café where we offer continental and full English breakfasts. On clement days, you can sit outside in the only pedestrianised part of this street and enjoy the marvellous views.

Local Attractions

Broad Street is a wide street in Oxford, England. It is famous for its bookshops, including the original Blackwell's bookshop at number 50. Locally, the street is known as The Broad.

Also in this street are Balliol College, Trinity College, Exeter College (front entrance in the adjoining Turl Street). The Museum of the History of Science (the original location of the Ashmolean Museum), the Clarendon Building, the Sheldonian Theatre and the new Bodleian Library building (the main University library, entrance in Parks Road) are important historical Oxford University buildings at the eastern end of the street. The question is often asked "Where is the University?". These buildings form the nearest equivalent to the centre of the University, since most academic buildings in the centre of Oxford are owned by individual (and autonomous) colleges rather than the University itself.

Location

We are located on Broad street in the centre of Oxford.
