Description

St John's Lodge is a traditional Lakeland Guest House ideally situated midway between Windermere village and the lake at Bowness Bay.

There are fourteen bedrooms so we believe we're small enough to give you the individual attention you need yet large enough to offer you good variety and choice.

We have a good selection of single, double and family rooms. Each of our fourteen rooms is comfortably furnished, has an ensuite shower WC as well as a colour television and welcome tray with Fair Trade tea and coffee.

Our eight double rooms, one single and one twin room are all individually decorated and all have their own en-suite facilities.

We have one family bedroom with a double and single bed and en-suite shower/WC.

Breakfast is served in our beamed dining room which is in one of the oldest parts of the house.

Local Attractions

Parklands Country Club:-
After a hard days walking or if you just want to pamper yourself why not relax at nearby Parklands Country Club.
All guests are offered free access. There is a swimming pool, spa bath, sauna, steam room, small gym, squash and badminton and two full sized snooker tables. A variety of massage and beauty treatments are available for an extra charge.

Walking:-
This is about a forty minute walk from St John's Lodge and a fabulous view point. There are many local walks for you to enjoy from easy woodland and lakeside walks to the more strenuous fells. We can offer advice to suit your individual needs.

Sailing:-
There are many ways to enjoy the lake. You can take a mini cruise or hire rowing and motor boats. Yacht hire and tuition is also available but you would need to book in advance. There is a public slipway to launch your own boats.

Biking:-
There are many popular routes for mountain bikes and cyclists. If you don't want to bring your own bike you can hire one locally

St John's Lodge is about 15 minutes leisurely walk from Lake Windermere. Windermere is the largest lake in England. One of the best ways to enjoy it is to take a cruise. The views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and wooded islands are superb. Even though we live here we never tire of it.

You can use the boats on the lake as a ferry service visiting various places of interest. There are also a number of enjoyable walks along the lakeside.

Windermere is the largest lake in England. Here you can board a traditional lake steamer and cruise the full length of Windermere stopping off to visit places of interest. You may also hire motorboats and rowing boats or try your hand at sailing and water skiing.

St John’s is only a few minutes walk from ‘The World of Beatrix Potter’ attraction in Bowness. You can experience all 23 of her magical tales, brought to life using sights, sounds and even smells.

Leave M6 at Junction 36:-
-Follow signs to South Lakes and Kendal, This road is the A590/591
-Follow A591 to Windermere
-Approaching Windermere turn left at Windermere Hotel
-Follow signs for Town Centre
-Drive through village towards Bowness and Lake, This road is New Road
-In about ½ mile there is a Catholic Church on left
-St John's Lodge is approximately 100 yards on left hand side.

If you reach the Police Station you have gone too far.

If you reach the Lake you have definitely gone too far - turn round and retrace your steps!
