Bed and Breakfast Description

Enjoy a perfectly relaxing break at Gill Brow Farm situated right in the middle of the Newlands Valley, one of the Lake District’s finest. And being only minutes from Keswick, we are easy to get to as well.

All our accommodation is comfortably furnished with bathrooms newly refurbished to a nice standard. If you enjoy glorious scenery we have it in abundance at Gill Brow with a close up view from every room including Catbells, Maiden Moor, and Hindscarth.

It goes without saying that you can enjoy all standards of walking from the front door but there is so much to see and do with Keswick and Buttermere just a few minutes drive away.

Our farmhouse is over 300 years old so beams, rustic doors and wooden floors we have in abundance. The decor is clean, simple and comfortable - please see the images of the rooms to give you a better view. Our B&B Accommodation has been inspected by Visitbritain (formerly English Tourism Council) and was awarded 3 stars.

1. Theatre by the Lake, Keswick – right on the shores of Derwentwater, the theatre has a fine reputation for drama, music and dance.

2. Cumberland Pencil Museum, Keswick – find out how the famous Cumberland brand of pencils are made marvel at the world’s biggest pencil ever made.

3. Unrivalled walking of all grades in the most beautiful part of the UK – the Lake District.

4. Cars of the Stars, Keswick – a host of famous cars from movies and TV can bee seen in this town centre museum including the Thunderbirds Rolls Royce and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

5. Mirehouse, Bassenthwaite – beautiful country house and gardens just outside Keswick that has an unrivalled location between Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake.

6. Keswick Launches – see stunning Derwentwater in its best light by taking a relaxing launch trip on this most famous of lakes.

B&B Location

Gill Brow is just a short 10 minute journey from Keswick on quiet country roads. Keswick is 20 minutes from Junction 40 of the M6. Bypass Keswick by continuing to follow the A66 and take the left turn into Braithwaite village past the campsite, turn left again follow signs for Newlands valley and Buttermere past Braithwaite shop follow the road up the valley for about 3 miles past the purple house (RiggBeck) we are the 2nd farm on the left.
