Bed and Breakfast Description

Welcome to Brooklands, a traditional guest house built in the local lakeland stone at the end of the end of the 19th Century. This family run guest house is set in a quiet and tranquil location just south, on the outskirts of Bowness Village and the waters edge of Lake Windermere. The house has fine views over the fells of the Lake District National Park and Windermere Lake its self.

Brooklands has five cheerfully new furnished bedrooms with a hospitality tray, radio alarms, colour television and central heating. We have a range of rooms from a single, twin, doubles and family: all with en-suite facilities.
There is also a cot available for a baby.
All rooms are en-suite and have tea and coffee making facilities. Each bedroom also has colour television and central heating.
In the guest television lounge there is a selection of books and guides for the local area. For the children we have games, books and toys available as well as a game console for the teenagers.

Start the day right with our hearty Lakeland breakfast served from 8.30am. If you are off for a day's walking, why not take one of Karen's packed lunches. We are open all year and have private parking off road alongside the house. We offer free fishing permits for guests for the local waters.

Local Attractions

Brooklands is close enough to stroll into the village or to
the boats sailing regularly from Bowness Bay along lake
Windermere to Ambleside and Lakeside for the steam trains
and the freshwater aquarium. The world of Beatrix Potter, Windermere Steam Boat Museum and Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House, are also situated close by in Bowness.

Walks
Cockshot Point Stroll
A gentle picturesque stroll from Brooklands to the village via cockshot point. It gives a nice stretch to the legs whilst enjoying the most of the shore of Lake Windemere as this walk consists of strolling around a path right next to the lake. This is a great walk for dogs, as they can run around and also get a bit wet. Also easy for pushchairs as the pathway is easygoing.

Fishing
The lake district is a magically beautiful region of lakes and tarns, fells and high peaks, just forty miles across in Cumbria and offers some tremendous fishing set amidst reed-fringed waters with breath-taking views of the highest peaks in England.

Species such as Brown Trout ,RainbowTrout , Ferox Lake Trout , Sea Trout,Salmon, Charr ,and Grayling inhabit Cumbrian waters giving the Lake District possibly the widest variety of game angling in the UK.

Most of the large Lakes such as Windermere hold wild Brown Trout and large Ferox Lake Trout plus one of the most southerly populations of Charr in the country. There are many remote hill tarns full of smaller wild Brown Trout, finally there are large number of Rainbow Trout fisheries, ranging from heavily stocked waters,to pure sport fisheries.

Our permits allow two guests to fish any of the following Game fisheries FREE : Ghyll Head, High Newton, Kentmere, Thirlmere, Dubbs Reservouir,Hayeswater, Moss Eccles Tarn, and High Arnside.
