Little Cottage B&B is situated within easy access of Reading and Basingstoke in Hampshire UK and has three rooms, all en-suite.
Chris and Thérèse Abbott have extended the cottage to take advantage of its wonderful position on the edge of heathland to one side and distant views towards Alton 15 miles away to the south. Hazeley Heath is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and SPA (Special Protected Area) because of the rare varieties of birds, butterflies and plants.
On an early summer's evening you may well hear the chirring of a nightjar, one of the rare birds, and it is not uncommon to see fallow, roe and muntjac deer, and of course foxes, squirrels, rabbits and even the odd badger out on the heath or even in the garden.
Little Cottage is a pleasing mix of old and new and larger than the name implies. You enter a traditional cottage and go through to a large open plan sitting room, where guests are welcome to sit and relax or watch television, and which opens on to a large terrace with its amazing views. You could be in the middle of nowhere!
The single and twin (with 2 single beds but can be combined for a super kingsize double) rooms both have an ensuite shower, basin and wc, and the double room (king-size bed), which also has patio doors opening on to the terrace, has a bath with shower, basin and wc en suite. Friesian cows or welsh black sheep can often be seen placidly grazing in adjoining fields. The double room is on the other end of the house from the other bedrooms and is beautifully quiet and relaxing. |
