Bed and Breakfast Description

Cherry Bank is a family-run guest house situated in beautiful, peaceful surroundings below the Skiddaw range, just before the Dodd Wood area, about two miles from Keswick town centre.

The house stands in its own grounds and has magnificent views towards the Grizedale and Causey Pike ranges, Newlands valley, Borrowdale, Cat Bells, Walla Crag and the Helvellyn range. There is ample private car parking for guests adjacent to the house. Cherry Bank is a totally non-smoking establishment.

We are dog friendly, and dogs are very welcome. There are several pleasant walks nearby. We can also offer secure storage for cycles for those who wish to bring their own, although Keswick does have several mountain bike hire shops. Excellent golf courses are within easy driving distance.

The rooms are all attractively furnished and comfortable, with television and tea trays.

Room 1
This room has en-suite facilities – an electric shower, washbasin and toilet. The views from this room are towards Latrigg and the Helvellyn Range from the side, and from the rear window you can watch the extensive range of birdlife feeding in the garden and the occasional red squirrel.

Room 2
This room has twin beds. It has a washbasin in the room and shares the main bathroom with room 3. It has truly wonderful views – Latrigg and Helvellyn from the side window and Catbells, Causey Pike, Grizedale Pike and Whinlatter Forest from the front window.

Room 3
This is a double room. It has a washbasin and shares the main bathroom with room 2. This room has panoramic views of Catbells, Newlands Valley, Causey Pike, Grizedale Pike and Whinlatter Forest.

The Bathroom
This room is for the use of rooms 2 and 3 only. It comprises an electric shower, toilet, washbasin and bath.

Keswick Attractions

We are ideally situated for those who wish to walk the beautiful Lakeland Fells. This is an ideal location from which to explore the northern areas of the Lake District National Park, or you can travel just a little further and visit places such as Carlisle and its historic castle, Hadrian's Wall, the Solway Coast or the Lake District peninsulas.

Keswick is an attractive and bustling market town in the heart of the Northern Lake District. The rejuvenated market square area provides shops, cafes and pubs in a car-free environment and if you want somewhere a bit more peaceful there are two beautifully maintained parks or the lakeshore to choose from. Whatever the weather you will find something to do or somewhere to go. This is just a short list of the many attractions to be found in the area:

B&B Location

To reach Keswick, leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), or head for this junction from the A66 from Scotch Corner. At junction 40, take the exit for Keswick and the North Lakes (A66) and travel for 17 miles. On reaching the outskirts of Keswick, remain on the A66 and go down the by-pass to a roundabout. Take the third exit from the roundabout, the A591 signposted for Carlisle. Stay on this road for one and a half miles and look out for the Lyzzick Hall Hotel on your right. Cherry Bank is the next entrance after this about 200 yards along (Dancing Gate). Turn in the main entrance and the up the drive on your right – the car park is beside the house.

Locating us on a map - we are just where the B-road from Applethwaite and Millbeck rejoins the main A591.

Public transport - Stagecoach run several services past the house, these include the X4 (Keswick – Workington), the 554 (Keswick – Carlisle) and the Caldbeck Rambler (Keswick – Mungrisdale – Keswick) service daily in the summer and Saturdays at other times.
