Local Attractions

Edinburgh is an excellent base from which to discover the scenic beauty of Scotland. Why not add a few days to your stay and go exploring? Here are details of just a few coach tours to give you ideas - we have lots more upon request ! For the independent traveller, the tour itinerary can of course just as easily be followed, or adapted, for your own tour by car at your own pace.

On leaving Edinburgh, the first destination is South Queensferry, to enjoy striking views of the impressive Forth Bridges which dominate this attractive little town.

Then head West past the Royal Palace of Linlithgow, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, on through William Wallace and Robert the Bruce country to Stirling, for a visit to 13th century Stirling Castle. Follow the picturesque Callender road to Kilmahog for lunch and a visit to the Woollen Mill Shop. Climb into the lovely Trossachs - home of the Scots folklore hero, Rob Roy MacGregor - passing tranquil Loch Venachar and Loch Achray. The journey continues over the Duke’s Pass to Aberfoyle, with a stop for some truly awesome views - a chance for more photographs ! From Aberfoyle take the High Road to the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond for an optional boat cruise - or a wander round the village of Balloch - before heading back via the outskirts of Glasgow.

Journey via Stirling and Callander, with a stop at Kilmahog for morning coffee. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic over the Pass of Leny, past Loch Lubnaig and on to Lochearnhead and Crianlarich, before beginning the steep climb to Rannoch Moor. At the Weeping Glen of Glencoe, pause to take photographs and marvel at the eerie landscape. Then it’s on to Fort William, for lunch and a visit to the Woollen Mill Shop!
