Bed and Breakfast Description

Swarland Old Hall offers bed and breakfast accommodation in Northumberland. It is a family run farm covering 310 acres and breeds both commercial and pedigree livestock.

Our stone built Grade II listed Georgian house is situated on the banks of the River Coquet and has breathtaking views over the Northumberland countryside. We offer award winning accommodation and delicious traditional home cooked English breakfasts.

Your hosts are the Proctor family who bought the house and farm in 1988 from retiring uncles. Dianne Proctor, who runs the b & b, was delighted to be receive the Gold Award from the English Tourism Council and more recently the Pride of Northumbria Best B&B 2003.

Arthur Proctor and his youngest son, Andrew, farm at Swarland Old Hall. Andrew has been successful in building up a pedigree flock of Texel sheep that are sold each year at the world-famous Kelso Ram Sale in the Scottish Borders. He has a formidable array of pedigree Blond Aquitaine and Limousin cattle, many of which can be viewed on a tour round the farm.

Our large raised wall garden is well stocked. Not only does it offer secluded areas to relax in but also offers stunning south facing views of Northumberland.

The guest bedrooms are all furnished to a high standard and are fully equipped with colour televisions, hair dryers and hospitality trays.

The double room is at the front of the house and has window seats offering breathtaking views to the south. It is complete with an en-suite shower and W.C.

The family rooms is also situated at the front of the house offering similar breathtaking views and en-suite facilities.

The twin room faces west with wonderful views of the surrounding woodland. It includes private bathroom facilities.
