Bed and Breakfast Description
|
|
Margaret and Brian welcome you to their stone built former farmhouse which is quietly situated in 9 acres of picturesque rural Northumberland, just 4 miles south of the market town of Hexham.
We are surrounded by fields, streams, woods and wonderful walks, all of which will ensure that you have a peaceful and refreshing stay.
When you drive through the gates you will find plenty of space to park, attractive gardens, tubs of flowers on the patio and hanging baskets on the walls.
Fresh and dried flowers are a feature of the house and old and treasured resident teddies can be seen lurking in odd corners. If you walk up the field behind the house there is a seat from where you can admire the view.
Guests are welcomed with refreshments while they relax in the sun room and we will recommend local pubs or restaurants for your evening meal.
RESDIDENTS LOUNGE
The lounge with its beamed ceiling and log fire has a colour television, guide books, tourist information leaflets, maps, games and sample menus from recommended eating places nearby.

Local Attractions
|
Whether you are here for business or pleasure, there is much to see and do. Fishing, golf, cycling, sailing and riding facilities are all nearby. Visits to Gardens, Castles, Christian Heritage sites and the Northumberland Coast can be made on our uncrowded roads, and if you need to shop we have the famous Metro Centre. Well marked footpaths start from Dene House and we provide maps and suggested routes.
HADRIAN'S WALL The main tourist attraction in this part of Northumberland is of course Hadrian's Wall. Housesteads, Vindolanda, Chesters, Corbridge and the Roman Army Museum are all within a short drive. You may like to take advantage of the Hadrian's Wall Bus which often has a guide on board.
KIELDER WATER Kielder, the largest man-made lake in Europe, lies in the heart of the Northumberland National Park. The scenery is stunning and you can walk, sail, cycle or simply soak up the view, enjoying the peace and tranquility.
BEAMISH OPEN AIR MUSEUM A 40 minute drive away is Beamish Museum, a 'living, working experience' of life as it was in Northumbria at the turn of the 19th century. It has won many awards including European Museum of the Year.
CASTLES, COAST AND GARDERNS There are several National Trust properties in the area. For a day out be sure to visit Holy Island and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands. Visit Alnwick Castle with its famous garden project, Chillingham, Dunstanburgh, Wallington Hall and the magnificent Bamburgh Castle.
HEXHAM The bustling market town of Hexham in Tynedale has an Abbey whose crypt dates from AD 675. The historic market place, medieval towers and the 14th century Old Gaol housing the Border History Museum, are well worth visiting. |
