Angel of North Near the A1 in Gateshead in the North East of England, is Britain's largest and most impressive sculpture. Commissioned by Gateshead Council and created by internationally renowned sculptor Antony Gormley, the sculpture rises 20 metres (65 feet) over the hilltop landscape. It is situated on the site of the pit head baths of the former Team Colliery. It marks the southern entry to Tyneside and is on the edge of the Great North Forest.
Hadrians Wall Westwards from the fabulous city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, you can follow Hadrian's Wall into the beauty of the Northumberland National Park. Stop along the way at Corbridge or Hexham for afternoon tea in true English style.
Northumberland Northwards, the countryside meets the sea and is bejewelled with castles and accessible islands along the coast. The ancient market towns of Morpeth, Rothbury and Alnwick are all within 1 hour's driving distance from Whitley Bay.

Travel down the A1/A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel then at the A1058 turn left and head towards Tynemouth, Keep on the A1058 until you reach the coast. Turn left and go along sea front for about half a mile. When you come across 4 tennis courts and a bowling green, we are situated adjacent the tennis courts in Victoria Avenue.
From the South
Travel up the A1 and head for the Tyne Tunnel, go through the tunnel and head north for 1 mile until you reach the A1058 for Tynemouth. Keep on the A1058 until you reach the coast, turn left and go along the sea front for about half a mile until you come across 4 tennis courts and a bowling green, we are situated adjacent the tennis courts in Victoria Avenue.
From the International Ferry Landing
