Local Attractions

Harrogate became popular as an elegant Victorian spa town, noted for its charming friendly atmosphere, well-preserved architecture and glorious public gardens.

The two-hundred acre Stray is an area of green parkland surrounding the town centre, well placed for easily escaping the hurly-burly of shoppers in the main streets. Dig deeper into the designer shops, ethnic restaurants and numerous tea rooms, or treat yourself to a relaxing few hours at the original Victorian Turkish Baths.

Although Harrogate still has it's Spa town charm, it is now better known as an Exhibition and Conference centre town with the Harrogate International Centre, centrally located.

Harrogate is renowned for its beautiful floral displays and gardens, together with the open parkland known as the Stray. It is a multiple winner of the 'Beautiful Britain in Bloom' and 'Entente Floral Awards'.

Eating out is a delight; restaurants abound to suit every pocket and taste, from Indian to Italian, French to Cantonese and of course, English. Within short drives can be found the most delightful countryside, offering opportunities for walking, climbing, horse riding or just sightseeing among the ancient abbeys, stately homes, towns and villages.

B&B Location

On entering the town follow the Harrogate International Centre signs. When you reach the Harrogate International Centre (marked 'C' on map) turn up Alexandra Road. At the 'T' junction on the right is April House. There are airports at Leeds (20 min. drive) and Manchester (11/2 hour drive). The Harrogate International Centre, exhibition hall, shops, gardens and restaurants are all within a very short walk.
