Little Saltcote was originally an Edwardian family home - the character of which still remains in this fully refurbished, family-run guesthouse.

What To Do Rye's eclectic mix of antique shops, book shops, gift shops and high street stores make for a delightful place to spend some time, whether browsing or buying. Do not miss a visit to at least one of Rye's famous potteries for an unusual souvenir. On Thursdays, visit the locally renowned Market, or the Farmers’ Market which is held every Wednesday. For the energetic, Rye’s public swimming pool is just a few minutes walk from Little Saltcote, whilst we can also arrange a game of tennis or squash at the local tennis club for our guests. Or simply wander through the charming streets of the town, looking at the views and taking photographs. Special events not to be missed include the Medieval Weekend in August, the Rye Festival of Music and Arts in September, and the Rye Bonfire Weekend in November.
For whichever of the very many reasons you may wish to visit Rye, remember that all of its attractions are within easy walking distance of Little Saltcote.
Around Rye The downlands of the North and South Downs and the Weald, the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters to the west and Dover to the east, the flat expanses of the Romney Marshes - all of these are within easy range from Rye. Everything from hidden villages, quiet country lanes, peaceful rivers and country inns via the delights of wide open sandy beaches to the cosmopolitan attractions of resort towns such as Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne ensures that the area around Rye has something to appeal to all tastes and all ages.

Travel details
Roads Rye is located close to England’s south coast between Folkestone to the east and Hastings to the west. It is 67 miles (107km) from London and 35 miles (56km) from Dover. The town is situated at the junction of the A268 and the A259. Access from the nearest motorway is via Junction 10 of the M20 at Ashford.

Trains Rye Station is situated on the regional line connecting Ashford and Hastings. Trains operate from Rye in each direction approximately every hour during the day. There are connections at Ashford to London Charing Cross and Victoria, as well as to the Eurostar, and at Hastings to Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London.
If required, for guests arriving by train, we can arrange a lift from the station on request.
Channel Crossings Rye is within one hour by road from both Dover (for sea crossings to Calais, Boulogne and Dunkerque) and Folkestone (for the Eurotunnel terminal). The channel port of Newhaven (for Dieppe) is within 90 minutes driving time.
Airports The nearest major international airport to Rye is London Gatwick, which is 55 miles (88km) away. The journey by road takes approximately 90 minutes.
There is also a local airport at Lydd (10 miles / 16km from Rye) from where flights can be taken to Le Touquet in northern France.
