Local Attractions
|
Local Towns The Historic Town of Rye is a 'must visit' with its cobbled streets and antique shops, and the ancient towns of Battle and Winchelsea are all within a short drive. The seaside town of Hastings is four miles away combining a fascinating old town and funicular railway with many family attractions, shopping centre, cinema, night clubs and bars. Tenterden in Kent is also easily accessible and well worth a visit for its old fashioned shops and steam trains. Beaches Sun worshippers will love the beach at Camber with its dunes and miles of golden sand. Those seeking quieter spots may prefer the beaches at Pett Level and Winchelsea just minutes from the house. For the more adventurous, the local beach, down the cliff, opposite Stream House, provides total seclusion and privacy undiscovered by other tourists. Try this one at your own risk but we haven’t lost a guest yet! There is also a naturist beach within easy reach. Houses, Castles and Gardens Why not visit one of the many famous houses such as Lamb House in Rye or castles at Bodiam and Hever. Garden lovers will adore Great Dixter, (our personal favourite) and Merriments whilst Sissinghurst is also a popular choice, particularly with guests from the continent. |
