Description

At Hale Farm House Bed and Breakfast guests from all over the world are part of the living history of life at the Hale in this Low Weald area of East Sussex. This quiet area of Sussex is ideal for walking, horse-riding, cycling and golf and yet is within easy reach of historic Lewes, the bright lights of Brighton, the royal spa town of Tunbridge Wells and elegant Eastbourne on the sunshine coast.

Equestrian Cross Country Hire

Set in 65 acres of beautiful rolling pasture under the Environmental Stewardship Scheme and bordered by the Bull River and The Weald Way, the Hale Cross Country Course is designed to give confidence to both horse and rider.

Built at different levels from Mini (1ft 9 inches), Novice (2ft 3 inches), Intermediate (2ft 9 inches) to Open (3ft 6 inches), there are over a 100 fences which are being updated constantly.

Children are well catered for in the locality. Famous Beachy Head and Seven Sisters Country Park are nearby as is the Bluebell railway and Drusillas, considered by many to be the best small zoo in England.

Opera lovers can enjoy a night's stay here en route to Glyndebourne, fifteen minutes away.

Charleston Farmhouse home of Vanessa Bell of the "Bloomsbury set" is nearby and Chiddingly itself boasts Farleys Farm House home of Lee Miller and Sir Roland Penrose, famous surrealist artists.

London is approximately 50 miles away, accessible by train from Lewes station.

A22 going South bypass East Hoathly and Whitesmith, turn left at Golden Cross pub up the lane beside the BP garage. At the end of the lane turn right and then fork left towards Horam. Hale Cross Country Course is about a mile on the right with a sign on the entrance. Hale Farm House is a few 100 yards further up the lane on the right.

A267 going South,turn right as you enter Horam, still on A267 towards Easbourne. Turn right just before the May Garland pub, past Horam Park Golf Club. Take first lane right towards Chiddingly. Hale Farm House is about 2 miles on the left and the Hale Cross Country Course is a few yards further up the lane on the left.
Directions from Brighton

Take Lewes road out of Brighton (A27)
Bypass Lewes through Cuilfail tunnel
Turn right onto A26 (towards Uckfield for a short while)
Then turn right onto B2192 through Ringmer, then right again onto B2124
through Laughton, until you get to A22
Turn right onto A22 towards Eastbourne and then almost immediately left
opposite Golden Cross Pub and by the side of the BP garage.
At end of Burghill Road at Muddles Green turn right and 200 yards fork left
towards Horam.down Scrapers Hill
We are about a mile on the right , clearly signed.
