Bed and Breakfast Description

A Victorian Country house hotel, originally built in 1664, offering superb breakfasts and evening meals. Centrally located in this beautiful Malhamdale Village amidst stunning scenery, with the Pennine way and other walking and cycling routes running just past the front door. A warm welcome awaits you on your arrival.

We have recently been awarded a 4 Star rating by the AA and an AA egg cup award for an outstanding breakfast.

Upon entering the hotel, is our Victorian hall way dating back to 1879, with original cornicing and arch way moulding. This then leads you through to Reception and the Restaurant.

Local Attractions

Malham is a perfect setting for a break in the Yorkshire Dales, both for the keen rambler or those wanting something less strenuous. Within a mile of the village there is Malham Cove a 250ft Limestone Cliff topped by a unique Limestone Pavement, Goredale Scar a deep rift in the landscape once painted by Turner!, and a short stroll from the hotel is Janets Foss, an enchanting waterfall where local legends abound

The popular Malham Landscape Trail begins outside the River House Hotel, this circular walk takes roughly three hours to complete. The trail is mostly easy walking along footpaths and farmland and is 7km long covering some of the best features Malhamdale has to offer. See malhamdale.com for more information.

Our neighbours "The Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre" will be happy to arrange a trek for those wishing to experience the beautiful countryside astride a Dales Pony
