We have on-site parking. We're sorry, we do not accept pets. Our BNB is a working farm. There are scenic walks in the currounding area. All rooms have TV. All or some rooms have ensuite facilities.
All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities. Hairdryers are available in rooms or on request. Smoking is not permitted in the establishment. All rooms have a shaving socket.

Description

The bedrooms are south facing with magnificent and unspoilt views of Weardale.

Both rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, mini fridge (fresh milk is always provided), colour television, alarm clock radio and hair dryer. The bathrooms have shaver points, toiletries and a selection of towels are available.

The Daisy Room
Furnished in pine this family size room has a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite shower room. Equipped with a TV and Video player with an assortment of videos

The Rose Room
This room is very versatile and can be made up in one of two ways:
1) Three single beds ideal for twin, triple or even single let.
2) Superking size bed (2 single beds joined together) and a single bed making an ideal family room.
This bed room has a large en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath.
Equipped with a TV and DVD player with an assortment of DVDs.

Breakfast is served in the Dining room overlooking the larged walled garden.
With a wide variety of breakfast dishes to choose from there will be something to suit everyone. Orange juice, a selection of fruit ,a choice of cereals and a variety of yoghurts are on the table, so just help yourself. Then, try our traditional English Breakfast with excellent sausages and bacon,sourced from Broom Mill Farm,West Auckland our own freerange eggs when available as well as fresh local mushrooms, and tomatoes. Fresh homebaked bread and homemade perserves.

We now have 4 completely refurbished traditional stone stables on the farm. If you are traveling to shows and events why not stay with your horse and enjoy the wounderful scenery of Weardale.
We have a secure tack room and cycle store .
The laundry room equipped with washing machine and a tumble dryer also has a toilet and a shower room.

Local Attractions

The beauty of Weardale is that everything is in easy reach either by car, bike or foot and there are numerous places to explore ranging from the high wild fells of Weardale and Teesdale, to pretty villages, market towns and the beautiful University City of Durham, with its cathederal, castle and medieval streets. Below are just a few idea of places to visit. Alternatively visit the local Tourist Information Centre and be amazed by the range of days out in Weardale.

Auckland Castle - historically the principle country residence of the Prince Bishops and now the official home of the Bishop of Durham.

The Bowes Museum - offers a fascinating museum experience for all the family. Enjoy the greatest collection of European fine and decorative arts in the North of England and an acclaimed exhibition programme, alongside special events and children’s activities.

Diggerland - is the ultimate adventure park for all ages, where you can ride, drive and operate full size construction machinery.

Durham Cathedral - the presant Cathedral has stood on this spot as a place of prayerand pilgrimage for over 900 years. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in England, and part of a World Heritage Site.

Escomb Church - dates from the 7th century. Much of stonework is Roman. Now restored, it is one of the finest examples of early Christian architecture in Northern Europe.

Frosterley - a village of Saxon origin and famous for it's Frosterley marble which was used in the Chapel of Nine Altars in Durham Cathedral.

Stanhope - a stone built town standing on the northern bank of the River Wear. The parish church of St.Thomas is well worthy of a visit especially to see the 250 million year old fossilised tree which you can find in the church grounds. The Durham Dales Centre is based here with its Information Centre, Craft Shops and Tea Rooms.
 

Location

Newlands Hall is situated mid way between Wolsingham and Frosterley on the A689 on your right. After leaving the main road follow the drive up and over the first cattle grid and take the right hand fork up the farm drive to Newlands Hall. Car Parking is to the side of the house all Horse boxes and trailers please go round into the farmyard.
