Local Attractions

Durham Cathedral - 0.8 miles
Durham Cathedral is the greatest Norman building in England, perhaps even in Europe. It is cherished not only for its architecture but also for its incomparable setting. For this reason it was inscribed together with the Castle as one of Britain's first World Heritage Sites. In a nationwide BBC poll held in 2001 it was voted the nation's best-loved building. Like Hadrian's Wall and the Angel of the North, it is an icon of north-east England, its image is instantly recognisable to people who love this part of Britain.

Gala Theatre - 0.3 miles
The centrepiece of Durham's arts programme, the Gala Theatre is situated in a beautiful, purpose-built, £15m building on the banks of the river Wear in the heart of this historic city. The venue houses a state-of-the-art modern theatre, spacious and comfortable café-bar, two cinema screens and superb conference facilities.>

Museum of Archaeology - 1 mile
Crook Hall is a beautiful Grade I listed Medieval Manor House with a banquetting hall & 17th century Jacobean room. The hall is at least 13th century, maybe older, and the timbers supporting it were in place 100 years before Drake sailed against the Armada in 1588.

Crook Hall - 1.2 miles
Crook Hall is a beautiful Grade I listed Medieval Manor House with a banquetting hall & 17th century Jacobean room. The hall is at least 13th century, maybe older, and the timbers supporting it were in place 100 years before Drake sailed against the Armada in 1588.

DLI Museum - 1.5 miles
The museum tells the story of County Durham's own Regiment The Durham Light Infantry from 1758 to 1968, with particular emphasis on WW1 & WW2. The exhibits focus on the experience of war with the use of letter & diary extracts, as well as the actual voices of DLI WW2 soldiers.
Within the same building Durham Art Gallery showcases temporary exhibitions and events.

B&B Location

Please note that the property does not have any external signs to indicate that it is a guest house and you will find us from the address with the number '212' in stylised stained glass figures above the front door.

If you are travelling by car via the A1, we would suggest that you take the A690 exit (junction 62) and stay on this dual carriageway until you reach the first roundabout. At the approach to the roundabout, ignore the road sign indicating Gilesgate as a left turn and take the right hand exit indicated to be 'Claypath'.

The railway station is within a 15 minute walk.
