Bed and Breakfast Description

Carole & Russell Field welcome you to BEACH COURT 5 STAR Bed & Breakfast (B&B), their unique turreted, dog & pet friendly, beachside home (with private access to the beach) featuring spectacular sea views of the North Northumberland Coast!

As this could well be your first experience of bed and breakfast accommodation in North Northumberland - The Secret Kingdom - we hope that the following pages will provide you with just a hint of the unspoiled wild beauty of our largely undiscovered coastal region with its plethora of magnificent castles.

We have just three very individual rooms offering bed and breakfast available, believing that the interests of our valued house-guests are best served by creating a 'home from home' feel (with of course the added luxury of being pampered!) which is so difficult to achieve and maintain on a larger scale.

You will see that all of our rooms have spacious, private, ensuite amenities and spectacular sea views of the Northumberland coast. What we cannot adequately portray however is our position in relation to the beach and coast line: this can only be fully appreciated by your own personal experience of our unique bed and breakfast location.

Beach Court, our non smoking home, is located just seconds from the shore and adjacent to Beadnell's tiny 18th century harbour.

It is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive and photographed properties on the entire North East coastline, being built from local stone that was literally barrowed from the foreshore and erected on the prime historical site, overlooking both the harbour and bay.

Apart from your own individually styled bedroom, you will have full use of the magnificent oak panelled, sea facing drawing room with stereo system, video and satellite television, DVD as well as the elegant dining room opening into the adjoining spacious conservatory.

Secure car parking is provided in our courtyard where a side gate gives access to the harbour and the beach.

Local Attractions

Step with me just outside our back gate onto the clean golden sands of Beadnell Bay: two fishing cobles are easing into our tiny harbour mouth having slid silently out on the early morning tide, just yards beneath your bedroom window.

Bright sails of windsurfer's rigs blend against the majestic backdrop of the Cheviot Hills as we cross over the Long Nanny bridge en route to the tiny fishing village of Low Newton, where after a leisurely drink at the minute Ship Inn tucked into the square, we strike out across the dunes with the stark ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle as our destination.

Returning home with the sun setting over the bay, we look across to the cluster of rocky outcrops that constitute the world-renowned Farne Islands, home to the grey seal and vast bird colonies. Why not visit the islands with our local boatman Billy Shiels as your informative guide?

Alternatively you may prefer to use your wheels instead. It is true to say that situated as we are with the sea as our nearest neighbour, we are nonetheless perfectly positioned to enable our house guests to reach a host of exciting destinations, whatever their particular interest or hobby may be.

From historic houses to horse riding across the bay, from battlefield to bird watching, we will be able to assist you in planning a perfect day in the sure knowledge that within The Secret Kingdom you will never be disappointed with your choice.

There are almost too many treasures waiting to be discovered on our doorstep, some include:

The dramatic vista of the Scottish borders (land of the fabled Border Reivers) with its castles and historic sites
The Hirsel at Coldstream
Ford and Etal Estate (including light railway and mill)
The historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed
Wooler-the gateway to the Cheviot Hills
Lindisfarne-the Holy Island
Kielder Water
Cragside
Paxton House
The castles of Alnwick
Bamburgh (birthplace of the heroine Grace Darling)
Chillingham
Dunstanburgh
Warkworth
