Description

The Acacia at Harrogate has been lovingly restored by Dee and Peter Bateson to form a charming, elegant, and luxurious small family-run townhouse hotel with a pretty garden in a select central conservation area opposite the Majestic Hotel.

Acacia retains all its original Victorian character with fine furnishings, beautiful antiques and old paintings.

For your added comfort and safety and of course, to maintain our high standards, we are entirely non smoking.

Acacia has its own private floodlit parking and is only a short stroll away from all of Harrogate's many attractions.... fashionable shops, conference and exhibition halls, and other major hotels.

For golfers there are four 1st class courses nearby. Gourmets, or just the plain hungry, need not feel left out. Eating out locally can be a delight with fine wine bars and a wide range of restaurants. With so much to see and do, is it any wonder that many of our guests return year after year

Local Attractions

Our beautiful spa town is famed for its floral displays, the victorian turkish baths, the mineral waters and much more. Conveniently placed for tours of both the Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire Moors, Harrogate is an ideal vacation centre.

For those with business plans Harrogate is a major conference and exhibition town.

Acacia at Harrogate is handy for several excellent pubs, restaurants and places of interest. We have compiled a list of our own favourites to acquaint you with the local area before you arrive.

The Turkish Baths are an integral part of the history of The Royal Baths, but also Harrogate. Harrogate developed as a spa town after the discovery of the first medicinal springs in 1571.

Build by Baggalley and Bristowe of London at a cost of £120,000 the Baths were formally opened in 1897, by HRH the Duke of Cambridge. In addition to the Turkish Baths, more than a dozen other types of bath, douche or treatment were available, together with a full complement of consulting doctors. A Turkish Bath cost 3 shillings and a massage 2 shillings.

The Northern Horticultural Society was founded in 1946 with the objective of 'promoting and developing the science, art and practice of horticulture with special reference to the conditions pertaining to the North of England'.

The chief aim was to set up a trial ground where the suitability of plants for growing in northern climates could be assessed. The original 10.5 hectares has been extended to 27.5 and the merger with the RHS will ensure that Harlow Carr becomes a premier botanic garden in the North of England.

The Yorkshire estate of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire covers 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside in the Yorkshire Dales. There are medieval buildings to explore and 80 miles of moorland, woodland and riverside footpaths

Location

From the North come into Harrogate on the A61. Springfield Avenue is on the left hand side of the road just before the grounds of the Majestic Hotel.

From the South come into Harrogate on the A61. Travel down Parliament Street, through the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill, and as you start to climb the hill on the other side, turn right into Springfield Avenue, immediately after the grounds of the Majestic Hotel.

Acacia at Harrogate is situated immediately behind the Majestic Hotel, just off Ripon Road. We are close to all the amenities Harrogate has to offer. In particular, the conference and exhibition halls, and the town centre itself with its extensive choice of fine restaurants and quality independant shops.
