Description

Our peaceful 19th Century cottage is ideally situated within 3 acres overlooking open countryside just 10 minutes away from the Historic City of York, the ideal place to base yourself for touring this scenic and historic area of the UK.

We established our Bed and Breakfast in 1999 and since we opened we have welcomed back satisfied customers from all over the world and it is a pleasure to meet friends of customers who have come through recommendation.

Having lived in the area all our lives we know all the best places on the tourist route as well as quite a few hidden gems.

Your stay with us is made as relaxing as possible starting with home baked cake and tea on arrival, if the full English breakfast does not appeal you can even request a Continental breakfast in your room.

All our rooms have en-suite bathrooms which contain a bath or shower, washbasin and toilet. Constant hot water is always available. Each room has a colour tv, radio alarm, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities, fresh milk is available on request. Wireless broadband internet is available throughout the property. All the accommodation is fully centrally heated and all rooms have views over open countryside

We are situated down a private country lane 10 minutes North East of the Historic City of York, the ideal place to base yourself for touring the North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire’s wonderful coastline and of course York with it’s many treasures. Claxton Hall Cottage Bed and Breakfast, originally part of the Walker family estate has beamed ceilings, log fires and period furniture, your comfort is our main priority.
All the rooms are en-suite, our family live in the adjoining cottage, near enough to care for your needs, but giving guests the freedom to relax and enjoy their holiday. The beauty of this is that you can book a single room or the entire cottage and still know that we will be on hand to prepare your breakfast and care for you.

Local Attractions

Just 10 minutes from the historic City of York, we are ideally situated for visiting all the attractions in York and the surrounding area.

York is well known for its historic interest but it also has excellent shops, restaurants and pubs, of which there are as many of as days in the year.

It also boasts more ghosts than any other city in Europe. A Ghost Hunt of York is great fun, though a little scary!

Just outside York is the Elvington Air Museum and the MacArthur Glen Designer Outlet, as well as York’s famous Racecourse at the Knavesmire. and a good selection of golf courses, Sandburn Hall Golf Club being just a mile away from us.

45 minutes away, North Yorkshire’s coastline has busy seaside towns and quieter secluded coves with small fishing villages.

Travelling an hour away are the Yorkshire Dales, with “Bronte Country” and “Herriott Country”. A patchwork of dry stone walls, pretty villages and scenic walks.

We have a wide ranging choice of places to eat in our local area, all within two miles or less.
