Bed and Breakfast Description |
| |
|
The Buck Inn is an ideal country retreat for those seeking to get away from the busy pace of modern life. Whether you are looking for a romantic break, a family holiday or to indulge in outdoor pursuits, The Buck Inn can cater for all.
Being just a few miles from the A1 we make a much better stop off than those nasty service stations, or if you're travelling a long way, why not stay with us and break up your journey? We have a large garden at the rear shaded by mature trees where you can relax and refresh with a long cold drink and a bite to eat on a hot summers day.
Having spent a long day taking in the local attractions, you can unwind in the small, cosy bar by our open fire. Our bar offers an extensive wine list to suit all tastes, a selection of well-kept real ales including the locally brewed "Black Sheep" and a range of guest options from independent brewers. As the night draws on you can also pick from our selection of over forty different varieties of malt whisky.
At The Buck Inn we offer a comprehensive menu to suit most appetites, pockets and palates. We source all our meat from a trusted local butcher, our fish and vegetables from an award winning local supplier, and a lot of our herbs are picked straight from the garden. We also sell a selection of ice creams made by local, award winning ice cream makers Brymor.
Our menu ranges from traditional, wholesome pub fayre to more exciting modern cuisine. We also offer a variety of special dishes from our blackboard selection which changes weekly. We keep a firm focus on what is in season, which keeps the menu dynamic and ensures that the quality of ingredients are second to none. We take pride in the fact that our food is cooked from scratch in our kitchen to our own recipes, which have been developed over a long period of time and a lot of tasting spoons! There is a lot of passion for good food here, and we hope that our enthusiasm is evident in the finished product. |

Ripon Attractions |
| |
If places of outstanding natural beauty are your idea of heaven, then a day or two scouring the dales with their medieval dry-stone walls and barns will be right up your street. By contrast, the moorland above is as wild and open as it comes. There are several spectacular waterfalls, from the very popular and well known Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Force to the more secluded but no less beautiful waterfall at West Burton. On clear days a drive to the top of Wensleydale, Wharfedale, Coverdale or Swaledale will reward you with some truly breathtaking views Brimham Rocks are quite amazing examples of erratics, giving you some idea of the awesome power that the glaciers that created the dales possessed. Thousands of years of erosion have worn away the different types of rock at different rates, leaving some bizarre and precarious creations!
Masham is just a 10 minute drive from The Buck Inn, and a beer-lovers utopia. The Black Sheep and Theakstons breweries lie literally adjacent to one another, both offering excellent tours, but the Black Sheep brewery has the added advantage of still being fully operational, and using both new and old techniques and equipment giving the visitor a large amount of insight into the development of the brewing process over the years. Middleham has historically been associated with horse racing, and is where many of the best horses, riders, trainers and owners can be found. It is, like Masham, also a beautiful and historic market town in its own right. The spa-town of Harrogate is only a 35 minute drive away, offers classy boutique shops, an annual 2 week music festival, and a range of small and intimate bars and night clubs. Its attractive sophistication is beguiling rather than imposing. Many of our guests include a day out in the beautiful City of York. |
