Bed and Breakfast Description

Cornlee is a charming Victorian property, built from traditional Yorkshire stone and located just half a mile from the picturesque Aysgarth Falls in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We are located at the eastern end of Aysgarth Village, overlooking the village green. The village has a tea room and two public houses. Aysgarth is located in the heart of Wensleydale and is the starting point for many walks, including the popular Herriot Way, a 52 mile circular walk taking in the sights and scenery featured in the books of James Herriot.

Cornlee is 4 star (VisitBritain) accredited and offers high quality accommodation, breakfasts and evening meals.

Afternoon tea and homemade cakes are served on arrival and we look forward to welcoming you into our home!

The double en-suite rooms each have a shower room, whilst the twin bedded room has a separate toilet and bath/shower room accessed off the landing.

All three rooms have television with 'Freeview', DVD player (and selection of DVDs), hospitality tray and radio alarm clock together with complimentary toiletries.

Rooms are available from 3pm with afternoon tea and homemade cakes served on arrival. Should you require an earlier check-in time, please contact us to arrange.

We offer a fixed price, 4 course evening meal at £12.50 per person which includes a starter, main course and dessert followed by tea or coffee. The price also includes a free bottle of red or white wine per couple.

Local Attractions
Wensleydale is home to many attractions and places to visit. It is an excellent location for walkers with many beautiful walks starting from Aysgarth. From Cornlee, you can take the scenic footpath to the famous waterfalls (approx half a mile) or undertake the more challenging Herriot Way, a 4-day, 52 mile circular walk popular with our guests.

The three waterfalls (Upper, Middle and Lower) of Aysgarth Falls make a dramatic spectacle after heavy rain as the River Ure tumbles furiously over the limestone shelves. Located approximately half a mile from Cornlee, they may be accessed on foot either by a surfaced footpath or a pleasant walk across open fields. For those who prefer to drive to Aysgarth Falls, vehicle parking is available at the National Park Centre.

A thriving market town (Market Day - Friday) with a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Leyburn station on the Wensleydale Railway, was reopened in 2003 and runs passenger services and special events throughout the year. Leyburn Shawl offers breathtaking views. Tennants Auction Centre is a popular visitor attraction holding specialist and weekly antique sales.

Known as the capital of Upper Wensleydale, this market town also has a good range of facilities and places of interest including Wensleydale Creamery and W R Outhwaite & Son Ropemakers.

At 96 feet (29m), Hardraw Force has the highest single drop of any waterfall in England. Located in the hamlet of Hardraw, visitors must pass through the Green Dragon pub and pay a small entrance fee to reach the waterfall.

West Burton has a delightful waterfall, Burton Force (also known as Cauldron Force), and is just a short stroll from the village centre. Its village green is one of the largest in the country.

Once an important market centre, Askrigg’s more recent claim to fame is as "Darrowby" in the television series “All Creatures Great and Small”. Regular craft fares and exhibitions are held in the village hall.

Cornlee is located on the A684 at the eastern end of Aysgarth Village overlooking the village green. We are approximately 20 miles west of Leeming Bar on the A1 and 30 miles east of junction 37 of the M6.
