Bed and Breakfast Description

Nestled between the Yorkshire Wolds, the Vale of York and the Howardian Hills, and within easy driving distance of many local attractions making it an "absolutely superb" and "outstanding" place to stay.

When staying with us at Woodhouse Farm, experience our high quality Yorkshire farmhouse Bed and Breakfast and sample the many options on our 5* breakfast menu (as rated by the AA).

Bed and breakfast accommodation in our 18th Century listed farmhouse consists of king sized and family rooms, all en-suite and furnished and equipped to a very high standard. With a guests lounge and separate dining room, you can be sure of a homely atmosphere and comfortable stay. All rooms refurbished for 2007.

Our central location means we are an ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire, close to York (only 20 minutes drive), and many other attractions including Castle Howard, Flamingoland, and the North Yorkshire Moors. We are easily accessed by road, just a stones throw from the A64, and less than an hour from the M1, M62, M18 and A1.

Woodhouse Farm was built over 200 years ago and is a Grade II listed building. Many of the original features remain, such as oak beams and open fires. The spacious guest accommodation remains traditional while being a very high standard and offering all modern conveniences. It is comfortable and homely, with a warm and friendly atmosphere ensuring a most enjoyable stay for all.

Breakfast is a treat, home cooked to order in the traditional farmhouse kitchen. From full English breakfast to smoked Haddock or cereals, yogurts and toast, all tastes are catered to. Homemade bread, jams and marmalade are a specialty with homegrown produce used whenever possible, and all other products sourced as locally as possible. Naturally all our eggs are laid by our free-range hens which are housed well away from the house to avoid early wake up calls from the cockerel!. Special diets such as vegetarian and diabetic can also be catered for.

Local Attractions

Here at Woodhouse Farm we are ideally situated for a whole range of visitor attractions, too numerous to mention. Being just a couple of miles away from the A64 Leeds to Scarborough road, we are central for many locations including York, Scarborough and the East Coast, Pickering, North Yorkshire Moors, Thirsk, Harrogate and many more.

Castle Howard, the setting for Brideshead Revisited, is just the other side of the A64, literally 5 minutes away. Terrington Lavender Farm, Helmsley and Duncombe Park are a little further. Pickering and its steam railway links to the North Yorkshire Moors (Heartbeat Country) are a stones throw away and Whitby is accessed by a most scenic drive.

York is a major visitor attraction, with the Minster and cobbled streets, and newer additions like the Yorvik and Castle museum and National Railway Museum. The Museum gardens are a perfect place for an al-fresco lunch. See the peacocks and squirrels as you sit and watch the river flow by. The newly refurbished racecourse is within easy reach, and don't miss Royal Ascot which will be at York in 2005.
