Bed and Breakfast Description

Gillian and John Hole welcome you to Bradle Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast, near Wareham, Dorset.

Our farm lies in a valley three miles west of Corfe Castle, surrounded by the Purbeck Hills in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Purbeck coastline has recently been officially recognised as a natural World Heritage site and encompasses part of our farm.

The original farmhouse and land are mentioned in the Doomsday Book before being destroyed by fire in the early 1800's. The present farmhouse was built in the 1840's with local Purbeck stone, still retaining much of the character and style of the original.

We farm 550 acres at Bradle as part of a total of 1800 acres, and we have been here as a family since 1962. It is very much a working farm with two dairy herds, sheep, beef cattle and corn which John farms in a partnership with his two brothers and father. We moved into the farmhouse in 1982 and I immediately started providing Bed & Breakfast, gradually upgrading all the rooms to their present high standard.

A warm, friendly family atmosphere is assured with us at Bradle, so come and sample what we have to offer!

Local Attractions

Our land here at Bradle Farm extends right up to Swyre Head which is the highest point in Purbeck offering panoramic views of the surrounding coast and countryside. From there we run down to the World Heritage coast at Kimmeridge, which is the nearest beach consisting of shale, rock pools and long ledges. There are many stunning walks from the farm along the coast and also inland along the Purbeck Hills.

The Medieval village and ruins of Corfe Castle is 3 miles away and provides the link for the Steam Railway to Swanage; a nostalgic 6 miles trip back in time.

The beautiful beach of Studland is 8 miles away with a vast expanse of sand which leads around to Sandbanks where a chain ferry links the Isle Of Purbeck to Poole. From this point you can take a boat ride to Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour which is the second biggest natural harbour in the world.

Travelling westwards we have Monkey World (8 miles) and The Bovington Tank Museum (10 miles).
